According to a Chinese website article today, Mayor Brown met with the director of CBA in Beijing today and they talked about Yao Ming's situation for about 20 minutes. After the meeting, The director told the press that the CBA won't give Yao Ming obstacles if he obtains his approval to play in the NBA from the CBA, his club (Shanghai Sharks) through standard procedures. He also went on to say Eric Zhang, Yao's distant cousin, is not an agent for Ming and can only represent Yao's family and any agent to present Ming will have to be certified by the CBA.
Mayor Brown is scheduled to be in Shanghai and have a meeting with Ming Yao next week according to Joel Blank of the Rockets.
it looks like these shanghi shark guys are easing up a bit. if ming can make it here for summerleague/preseason that would be great.
at face value, that doesn't seem very reassuring. I hope the Rocks know what they're doing. It's good they're talking with Eric Zhang and all, but I hope they're talking with the Sharks as well. It doesn't do the Rockets squat to develop a good relationship with Eric Zhang if the Sharks blow him off.
Mayor Brown needs to have his butt here in Houston fixing his city and repairing all the bad streets and potholes and burned out street lights.....ONE WORTHLESS MAYOR. I can say atleast Bob Lanier was seen at Rockets games Mayor Brown never shows up. Ahhhh Bob Lanier now that was a good mayor.
oooooooooooo a trash Mayor Brown thread ANY WAY Good to see the tradition of the politicos helping out the rockets continue [Remember when Mayor Lanier's Wife wrote the NBA .. . not that was great] Rocket River
