I cannot agree with you totally.
Yes ,we are a good team, but not that good. Our goal is 2nd round this year.We should give up sth for the goal.
We are cowards? NO! Because we all know this Rocket is not complete, and we lost our Mr. $2000,0000 ,right? So we should have skills and wisdom rather than courage and confidence.
Maybe you think we will lost the respect from the Jazz or lakers. I understand .
Ok ,let beat them like a man!
But-----------that should be what we will do in the next year when we have
a good pg (maybe trade tmac for sb).By that time,we will be strong enough to beat Utah and lal and win the championship.
But now,we should go further as possilble as we can,we will get experience in playoffs ,that's good to the struggle in the next year.

playoff is all about match up. We dont match up well with the j*zz, so unless you want another 1st round exit, let's not pick j*zz

    stupid comment.

everyone knows that the jazz are our biggest rivals in the past 3 seasons. we've played against the jazz more than any other team in the past 3 seasons.

playing the lakers is fine with me, but beating the jazz is a higher priority.

y'all have to keep in mind that the rockets are missing TMAC. we're not going to win a championship anyways. but fight til the death and see where it gets you. maybe we'll go far. defeating the jazz and breakig out the first round would be f***ing great.

I used to think like the OP too. I'd say I want the Jazz, then the Mavs, and then takeout the Lakers, and win it all against the Celtics. Just to shut everybody up.

But this year... I just want them to go deep into the playoffs, I don't care if we get lucky and play our best match-ups. I just want to go deep, getting bounced out of the first round sucks. Cause then you have the urge to watch playoff basketball but the Rockets aren't playing.

That is a feeling I don't want to experience this year.

I would rather get the ring even without defeating the Jazz ourselves. NBA is just a business actually, but not a kindergarden where the puples are very easily to get pissed just because of a candy.

It's really pretty annoying to lose two consetive series to the same rival and I also want to revenge on the Jazz with a 4-0 sweep, but you have to take into account something more than your feelings when you are dealing with business.

Our team, Les precisely, will get millions more dollars if our team plays one more game in the post season. we can play 7 games at most in one series but we can at least play 8 games if we get another round. :D

I haven't read this thread, but I agree kkolish.

    Give me JAZZ.

Are we trying to sneak through the playoffs or are we trying to win them?

Any fan worth his salt would want us to play and beat our best competition.

I want the Jazz then the Spurs then the Lakers.

And then the Cavs or whomever the East spits out.

    Remember 95?

I don't care if we're the underdogs. Let's get this done one rough match at a time..

I don't want second round. I want the championship. And that means going through some rough doors.

Maybe our team will defeat the Jazz in the first round this year, but playing the Jazz is definitely the most tough matchup among what we can get from other teams. it costs our players more strength to play the Jazz than any other matchup vs. other teams, then the second round will tend to go for our opponent, that's why every team avoids playing the Jazz in the first round.

I also want the championship so I would like to see our team play the toughest matches as late as possible, maybe the Jazz will be wiped our by some other teams like spurs or lakers.

sometimes I'm really sick of the terrible decisions that our operaters makes. for example, our team should have tried to gain the 6th place in 05 in order to avoid the mavs in the first round, just like the kings did. the supersonics would be done within 6 games if their opponents were us instead of kings.

Good. Our team is neither old nor tired, only untested. Give me tests.

Wrong. This team doesn't need rest, it needs confidence. Nothing will do that better than beating the Jazz or the Lakers. This team is good and could be very good but the difference between that and great is the arrogance of winning. We can only get that through an upset.

I don't know who these people are here who want to p***y out on the first round just to go out in the second, but that's not why I root for this team.

Every. Single. Year. I root for this team to go all the way. I'm not scared of those rotten dirty cheaters on The Jazz. And I'm not scared of Kobe Bryant. Both teams are tough. And we need to get past both to get another championship. So what? Since when were the Rockets favored?

    Be a fan.

I honestly don't get this mentality. So this means you must look back at 94 & 95 and become upset that the Rockets didn't have to play the Sonics. They were definitely our best competition, but we managed to get through without having to play them. Personally, I'm okay with it.

I agree with you.The Rockets is't afraid of the Jazz, especially when the time they get through the first round. So my opinion is do your best in the rest games regardless who is your rival. When you are good enough, you win! :)

Agree, I'd love to play the Jazz again!

I feel pretty confident that our team, as currently constructed, isn't going to win the nba finals. 2nd to winning the title, I can't think of anything else more personably enjoyable than beating Jazz. I do think we would have a shot to beat them. It would make my season!

So, for selfish personal enjoyment, Bring on the Jazz!

    Here's what I've been thinking...

    People say:
    A. We can't face the Jazz.
    because
    B. Our goal is to get out of the first round.

    And I'm wondering..
    A. If our goal isn't to win a championship anyways...
    B. Why not take a shot at the Jazz, just for pride's sake?

Where is the pride in weaseling out of the Jazz AND not shooting for the moon?

Exactly. I can't believe how many people around here have seemingly forgotten that a large part of our 2 championships is owed to the fact that, for various reasons, we managed to avoid a terrible match-up with Seattle.

Regardless, I doubt people were running around the streets screaming in fear because of the Sonics and conceding defeat before a series that wasn't even going to happen.
