No, but if the mother of those children would allow a normal relationship with the father maybe things would be different for them.

I would not be so quick to let Maxwell off the hook by saying that child support was ordered when he was in the NBA. A change in employment is grounds for modification of the support order. So, it was probably modified downward since he left the nba and he nevertheless failed to pay. Still, I don't doubt that he's out of cash and can't pay the amount, whatever it is.

He couldn't pay it even when he was in the NBA. In 94 he was in trouble for owing over 1000k in child support. Not sur eif he spent time in jail or what happened, but like this article said, it's a sad and recurring problem.

    This is horrible! My rant:

Why do men have to pay child support? Doesn't a man have to have a home, lights, gas, water, food, etc. to maintain so that when he gets to spend time with his kid there is a place to do so? Isn't that supporting his kids?

Isn't real child support spending time with your kid? How many kids would prefer those monthly checks over time with their father? Isn't child support really just a way to give a woman a man's money? How many mothers spend the child support on their hair and nails instead of school clothes?

If a woman can't support a child on her own, why should she have custody? If the man is rich, give him custody and her visitation rights. Why does the parent least able to provide given custody just because she is female? Isn't that discrimination against men?

If a man is unemployed, why is he treated as a criminal for not being able to make child support payments when he can't even take care of himself...but the woman is able to receive welfare and food stamps? Why is he the criminal but not her?

Why is child support different dependant on income? Doesn't it cost the same to raise a child anywhere in America? If the woman gets to keep the child, why should she be given the same living standard as the man who makes more money? Isn't that just selling the kid?

Child support is a crock of doodoo. It's a way to put more minorities in jail because typically minorities have higher divorce rates and less income. Child support ruins the credit of many minorities so that they can't actually get in a better position to buy things for their kids, totally defeating the purpose. If child support is supposed to be in the best interest of the child, how does putting the child's father in jail support the child?

Child support is just another way for the system to fill its prisons and destroy families and kids lives. What should be criminal is anyone keeping a child from seeing their parent, man or woman. True child support is spending time with your child and helping them to grow up, not financial support.

A deadbeat dad is one that doesn't spend time with his child, not one who can't afford to pay the mother to get her hair and nails done because he has bills of his own. Women shouldn't spread their legs and get pregnant if they can't support their own kids. If they can't support their own kids, they should give them to the father to take care of.

The government needs to get out of the financial bedroom of couples and put their interest in the child's right, not the mother's right to get welfare. If the governments true interest was only the best interest of the child, there would be no child support and they would only insure visitation rights for both parents, and all cases would have joint custody unless absolute abuse was established.

If the government told women that if you can't work and support your child and you go on welfare and the father isn't, we will give your child to the father, the welfare system would save billions of dollars and more women would either work or give custody to the father. If the government stopped giving outrageous child support payments based on man's income, women would stop getting pregnant by rich men that they have no intention of staying with.

If the government gave custody to the parent who has the best ability to support the child, the courts would be less full, child support could be eliminated and only visitation rights would be an issue for court.

Men need to stand up to this Amazon practice of penalizing men for having sperm impregnate women and making men into criminals for helping to create a life. Women who can't support their kids on their own without child support should give up custody and shut up, let the man take custody of the child and just visit.

If they choose a man that doesn't want to be a part of the child's life, then they should suffer the consequences of their own actions for spreading their legs for a bum and getting pregnant while doing so. The government GIVING THEM A BAILOUT with child support is not the answer.

Yeah...I have child support issues...so what? ROFL

    Hope you enjoyed my rant.

    FREE MAXWELL!
RELEASE ALL MEN JAILED ON CHILD SUPPORT!
IMPRISON ALL WOMEN THAT INTERFER WITH VISITATION RIGHTS!
GIVE CUSTODY TO THE PARENT THAT CAN AFFORD TO TAKE CARE OF THE CHILD ON THEIR OWN.

Uh, okay..you do some issues there.... :D

Back to Maxwell, it really does appear that Maxwell simply just...didnt choose to pay. Even when he was able. Seemed the amount owed kept growing. Clutch mentioned Rafer on Crack. I sure hope the "crack" part isnt part of it all ..... :(

This is awesome! This is what Mad Max was all about. I don't care what he does or what people say about him, he'll always be a champion and good guy in my book.

so you'd rather have the kid staying with a guy who had drug and temper problems, as long as he can buy him stuff? You could have just made a statement like I made about the amount. The only thing absurd is how much more the men have to pay and not that thye have to pay in the first place.

Like i wrote earlier, if the kid was a one night stand, then she deserves no more than what she can give him too, or a base amount to cover the kids expenses. Most of the time these women argue that their kid would have have lived a rich lifestyle if the guy stuck around, so they deserve the money to live well, i only agree with that if there was an attempt to make a family, or there was a family at one point and the man left, or the woman had a good reason to leave. They shoudn't get more than the minimum if they were just a one nighter and it was clear to them.

You mistake was assuming every woman getting child support is a gold-digging w**** through most of your rant.

And yes it's good to spend time with your kids, but a pro athlete whos away from home several time a week for over half a year isn't going to win that battle, not that i think that's always right, but it weakens your argument.

he murdered the Suns for 31 points in the second half of game 3 in Phoenix.
    It was cold blooded.

(May 13-15, 1994) Two hours after blowing the biggest lead in NBA playoff history, the Rockets flew out of Choke City down 0-2 to the Phoenix Suns. Four days later, the Rockets flew into Clutch City with the series tied 2-2. In Game 1 of the 1994 Western Conference Semifinals, Houston built an 18-point lead but lost. In Game 2, they had a 20-point lead in the fourth quarter but lost in overtime. "I'll never forget getting on the charter flight after Game 2," Rockets television commentator Bill Worrell said. "It was like a morgue." The Rockets didn't rise from the dead until the second half of Game 3 when they found themselves behind 49-41 at halftime. Then Vernon Maxwell got hot, scoring 31 points in the second half as the Rockets won 118-102. Houston finished "Desert Sweep" by winning Game 4, 107-96, to even the series.

dude, that was my point, but his past sure doesn't make him look like the victim here.

I'll pass on being Maxwell's kid though..

A great moment. Max's shot came and went (a LOT!), but when he was on, he was murder for the opposition. He was more consistent with his defense. I loved watching the guy, although he could drive you crazy.
