How about trading the #1 and KT for Jermaine O'Neal and a number one? I would do that with no hesitation. J O'Neal would give us a 20/10 guy next year that is still young with room to grow. O'Neal/Cato Taylor/Griffin Rice/Draft pick Mobley Francis That's a playoff team with a chance to do some damage.
the pacers wont trade o'neal after he was in the great funk commercial with vince and stack...roswell raybeams...allways gets a chuckle outta me
O'neal does not like playing the 5 he would want to be our 4..and he didnt do to well against eastern centers, so he would get abused by the western big men. But i would still do it
He did well against what center you had over there which was none. He thinks of himself as a four thats why they traded for miller to play center. The pacers were already the 2nd youngest team in the league, now they want to get younger? A 20/10 guy for a unknown especially when the 20/10 guys is 23 yrs old makes no sense. Its not relly a player in the draft that the Pacers really need. They have Harrigton coming back next yr, they just drafted a pg this yr. The only place of concern is Reggie is getting old and has 1 yr left, but they have either Mercer or Artest or even bender to fill that spot. It makes no sense for the pacers.
Why exactly would Indiana want to trade O'Neal? It's funny how some Rockets fans say that E-Griff is untradable. Fair enough... Yet, O'Neal isn't?
There are a few reasons. I don't think it's any secret that Isiah would like a stud point guard to teach, he knows as does everyone else that Tinsley isn't that guy. Also, the Pacers are loaded at forward with O'Neal, Bender, and Croshere. Croshere is sitting on the bench with a fat contract which probably annoys them. Not to mention that Bender, O'Neal, and Harrington all have their contracts up in the next 2 years so I doubt Indy is really going to sign all three. Kind of the same situation that LA is in. They're going move someone at some point and O'Neal is the guy who's going to get the most in return right now. If they're confident in Bender's talent, which they've been in the past, and think Croshere can be productive until Bender explodes then I don't think trading O'Neal for a stud point guard is much of a stretch. Jay Williams may be an unknown quantity in the NBA but he's as sure a thing as there is in this draft according to a lot of people. With the smallish East, losing a big guy when you have some on the bench isn't as big a deal as doing it in the West.
it would seem one would wanna keep ya tall people. . . to keep an advantage not to mention it is fine if you are satisfied being eastern conference champion and do not want a NBA Championship Rocket River
Indy was the 8th seed in the East with O'Neal. They're not exactly poised for a championship run or anything.
Not to mention Isiah was part of a great small backcourt. Either him or Dumars could play the point. He could have a similar situation with J-Will and Tinsley.
Maybe not a championship run, but I can see a finals run in their near future. You've got to realize how young that team is. Reggie and Kevin Ollie are probably the only two over 30, and if there is anyone else they aren't impact players. The rest of the team is around 25-27 or younger. They have a lot of room to grow. As for the trade, I would certainly do it, but there is no way Indy is going to trade O'neal, a project originally himself, for a new project whether taking Ming or Williams.
How about the #1, #15, and Mo Taylor for Kwame Brown, #11, and Brendan Haywood? MJ would cherish a chance to get back in the spotlight whether he's playing or not, and it is believed the Wiz are already giving up on Kwame. Brown could make a fearsome tag team with Griffin at the forward position that would be the envy of the league for years. Also, Haywood has a legitimate shot to be a 13 and 8/9 guy in this league for years. His upside seems to be about as good as Elden Campbell, but last I checked our center was Kelvin Cato. If the Wizards would do this, I think the Rockets would have to pull the trigger. At 11, the door would be wide open and we would probably go for best available or another guard, perhaps the Tskitishvili guy or Kareem Rush. Our depth chart would look like this: Center: Kelvin Cato/Brendan Haywood/(Jason Collier) Power Forward: Eddie Griffin/Kenny Thomas Small Forward: Kwame Brown/Glen Rice/Terence Morris Shooting Guard: Cuttino Mobley/Kareem Rush/Oscar Torres Point Guard: Steve Francis/Moochie Norris If we kept this team together, signed them to long term deals, and the young'n's fulfilled most of their potential, we could be looking at a contender for 8-10 years.
