Just for a change of pace, how about we discuss some of the other players the Rockets may/should be considering in this draft. There's no guarantee things with Ming will go smoothly and besides, its too early in the draft process to get tunnel vision. Who do you guys rank as the top 4 players the Rockets should consider in this draft? These are just the top guys you'd consider in the top 4 picks, not necessarily the guys you'd draft at #1. 1. Yao Ming 7''5", nearly 300 pounds, and a marketing dream. If all this guy ever does in his career is duplicate his Chicago workout--in which he shot well, ran the court well, defended the pick n' roll, and caught passes--then he will be light years ahead of Kelvin "Stone Hands" Cato. As long as negotiations don't get to complicated, should be the pick. Let's just hope the Rockets don't pull a Stu Jackson. 2. Jay Williams Williams would be excellent trade bait. Just in case things get sticky with Francis (who could easily fetch vet help and/or another top 10 selection), Williams can fill in nicely (and may even upgrade the point position). Besides, at least Williams knows how to run a fast break. 3. Mike Dunleavy Jr. Incredible upside, excellent shooter in the versatile point forward mold the Rudy T loves so much. Here is one guy the Rockets can just plug in and not miss a beat. Dunleavy would be the Rockets' Shane Battier with a better shot, better handles, and incredible higher upside. 4. Nikoloz Tskitishvili Despite not getting much playing time this year, this 7 footer has begun to produce in the playoffs. Acording to ESPN "In Benetton's playoff opener against Trieste last week he scored 15 points on 6-of-11 shooting in 17 minutes of action. He also grabbed four rebounds, had three steals, three blocks and only one turnover." This youngster may fill in at either forward spot alongside Eddie Griffin to bring the Rockets more shooting, rebounding and post play. Could be this years Pau Gasol.
1. Jay Williams - Is the best trade bait. Can yield us a veteran + a lower lottery pick. 2. Yao Ming - Definitely provides a marketing boost and may become a quality 5. However, I'm not sold that he will revolutionize the center position. 3. Mike Dunleavy Jr. - Is a Point Forward with shooting touch that our offense needs. A slower version of Odom? (Maybe) 4. Caron Butler - Delivers the perimeter defensive tenacity and scoring punch that we currently lack. (Ron Artest with Offense?)
1. Yao Ming- Could be a bust, but could be an MVP 2. Jay Williams- Safe pick, and we could youse him for trade bait to get a proven vertran. 3. Quintell Woods- Tracy Mcgrady written all over him 4. Mike Dunleavey- I like any white guys that jave a just a little game.
Just talking who I'd pick for Houston regardless of trades, position in draft. 1. Qyntel Woods 2. Caron Bulter 3. Nickoloz Tskitishvili 4. Amare Stoudamire
