He is close, but seems he won't get it. I really want him to have 20/10 at the end of regular season, not because I am a fan of his, but because Yao has better performance means the Rockets have better performance and better record. I am sure he knows he is close to 20/10, but I am curious if he cares to get 20/10. I will be very disappointed if Yao intended to shy away from 20/10. Yao must remember there is no conflict between his and team's performance, only benefit to the team from his higher score and rebound numbers. I enjoy Yao's game this season, other than those numbers on the status sheet, he is having more decisive effect on game outcomes in a positive way. Yao, if you won't have the 20, get the 10! P.S. Happy Landry is back and is not rusty.
Are you saying that if Yao averages 20/10 the team will actually play better than if he averages 19.6/9.9 It looks nice and I see why you want it, but really there's no statistical impact on the Rocket's performance
I think it has to do with the fact that Tmac is out and this team is no longer seen as just Tmac and Yao. We've become more team oriented with Tmac stepping out of the picture and everyone like Scola, Wafer, and Brooks stepping up their game. I hope Yao gets 20/10 but if he falls short, I wouldn't necessarily say it's a bad thing. It just means we don't solely rely on Yao as much now which is for the better the team imo (although he's still the main go to guy).
If you shot more you tend to miss more. Yao wont average 20 points because he is shooting less and less shots as days go by. His rebounding in the last few games have been extraordinary, think he has 6 double doubles in the last 7 games. Yao will end up average 19.8pts 10rebs 2 blks this season!
i think he means that if he got to 20/10 - that would mean Yao would have to consistently put up some big numbers until the end of the season. That would help the team.
Yao would need to average 27.75 ppg and 11 rpg in the last 4 games to average 20/10 for the season rebounds- attainable ppg- probably not
PPg is probable if they can give him 20 shots per game. But highly unlikey due to the ball hog nature in Aaron Brooks and Ron Artest. And ofcourse the inability to overcome fronting defenses present a major hurdle.
I'm confused by the "[Trivia]" in the thread title. It would be nice for him to get it but I could really care less. The team winning is all that matters and if the Rockets can do that with Yao averaging 15 and 7 that's fine by me.
He does not give a damn about 20+10... The dude got 25+9 a couple seasons ago. Stat isn't in his mind at all now I guess.
I think that fans want it for Yao. You hear so much (mainly from those who know nothing about basketball) that he should have insane averages because of his height..not taking into consideration based off past guys, that 7'6 guys should be stiffs. Of course he doesn't care, but being a 20/10 guy is like the gold standard for big men...nowadays anyways.. People called him injury prone last year, but here we are 77 games into the season and he's played nearly every game(knock on wood).. There is no rebuttal for 20/10 though.. i want it for him because the casual ESPN watcher thinks stats= impact.
the 20/10 club has recruited plenty of new members like AJ and CP, relatively many former diplomatic members of this club have already quitted it, like Tim Duncan and steve Nash. I'm glad to see yao is still around the edge of this club, if yao plays a little bit more selfishly I believe Yao will re-join this club.
