The problem is, when Wafer takes so many shots (the most on Rockets per minute) and making shots at that clip, it means other more efficient scorers(Yao, Landry, Scola, Artest etc.) gets less opportunity to score, and that hurts the offensive efficiency for the entire team. If he shoots a 60% TS, I'd have no problem for him taking those shots, even more. In reality, he's not that good a shooter. Selfishness is never a good thing for a team. Even Yao sacrificed his touches and shots for better overall team offense, I don't see why Wafer should be shooting like that.
lol selfish? check on ur boi artest. When he gets double team he still goes for the shot. Everytime he gets the ball most of the time he is trying to score. Sometimes he get 4 shots in the row and he misses all of them. Its nice that his shot r falling now but there will be time when he will miss a lot. and when that time comes what will artest do? i know he will go 1-10 again.
Artest is not my boy. He does play selfish sometimes. But he's the 2nd option on this team, so he has more touches than Wafer, and he only shot 0.4 times per minute despite he's having much better shooting percentage recently. On the other hand, Wafer shot 0.47 times per minute with limited touches as a role player. Since All Star break, Artest has taken 0.42 shots per minute on 47.8% shooting, Wafter has taken 0.473 shots per minute on Rafer like 37.5% shooting. Who's more selfish and who takes more bad shots? Unselfish guys like Battier took less shots when they are shooting poorly, but not Wafer. He needs to reduce his outside shooting.
not that one should not play with passion, but being too intense all the time sometimes causes problems. and wafer has been chucking lately. i don't care if it's garbage time or not, he needs to take good shots. and his release on the j is a bit slow, though he leaps high. a perfect role player, 8-9 man off the pine. give him 1.5-2 mils a year if he wants to stay.
Sure I love the way Von plays the game and super happy we found him from the cracks. But you gotta admit his motivation to makes millions of dollars instead of slaving away in front of a computer and having to write damned resumes and cover letters adds to his "passion".
great pic. Von is ELECTRIC. what I love about Von is that he is relentless. You know things are going to break his way because he keeps at it. he keeps at it. he gets frustrated, but he keeps at it... our offense these days can erupt, and von is a part of that, a big part of that. think of Lowry, AB and Von. All three are threats to get to the rim. all three are coming at you all game. Love it.
He has one thing in common with Vernon Maxwell: he thinks he's hot even when he's not, he just keeps throwing them up
I like Von, but he has a lot of issues both on the court and I believe off(based on his history). As for his shot selection, I'm sure it should improve. But he's usually playing with the 2nd unit when he should be looking to score. Also, Wafer doesn't exactly have good BBall skills in general, so I'm sure Adelman just simplifies the offense for him where he shoots a lot. Wafer's percentages are still fine for a bench player though. But I don't think he deserves big money in the offseason though.
Adelman seems to have a good strat with Wafer. Send him him and let him jack up shots, if they are falling, keep him in, if not, benched. It works imo.
somebody, please edit and upload the video of von's reversal layup tonight. that, plus his ric flair-like WOOOO into the camera was absolutely awesome! supervon!!
I knew somebody who was at the game tonight and they said wafer was out warming up over 2 hrs before the game started. Looks like the guy is committed.
When the outside shot is a better option, take it. Otherwise drive to the basket or pass the ball. Wafer has gotten better at looking for others but he needs to keep on working at it and on defense.
I've been a huge fan of Von since he days at FSU. He's always been a big time scorer, and just needed the minutes. You have to love what he brings off the bench because he constantly puts pressure on the defense and he's extremely athletic.
Does anyone have a pic of when Von looked straight into the camera today? It was on that 3 point play 4th quarter 7:51 exactly.
