I think Eminem has done enough unique stuff to really solidify his place in hip hop, but these pop singles are annoying as hell and get played into the ground. I have to wonder if teens these days care about Eminem, though. If it's not Li'l Wayne, they don't wanna know about it.

Rap battles are a HUGE part of hip hop. Mainstream rappers battle non-mainstream rappers, non-mainstream rappers battle each other, heck middle school students battle each other. It is not about "controversy", it's partially what rap was born from, they used to call it playing the dozens.

Well in todays rap he does have a point. A lot of the rap beefs happen because some rapper is trying to generate attention because they are dropping an album. 50 is the definition of that. Where Droxford is wrong at is fans buying into this drama. Most fans know the drama isn't real and 50's declining record sales prove that this strategy doesn't work anymore.

Alternate opinion: it's funny. Ripping celebrity culture might be shooting fish in a barrel, but it is ridiculous, right? We have enough U2's are doing very important work, saying very important things and changing the world, etc.

Yeah, he could be serious and drop a serious single but at the same time that is Eminem's m.o. Look at each album released and look at the first single off of each one.

The Slim Shady LP - My Name Is

The Marshall Mathers LP - The Real Slim Shady

The Eminem Show - Without Me

Encore - Just Lose It

Relapse - We Made You

None of those lead singles is a serious, meaningful song.

I liked "My Name is" and "The Real Slim Shady".

I can't remember the other ones, I will have to go look them up, I know I heard of them just can't remember them.

My favorite Eminem song isn't even his. Renegade - He killed Jay-Z on his own track. I also hope this album is better than Encore.
