Mark Berman on Fox reporting that Ming's cousin and agent (John Huizinga) like Houston. According to them, they did a lot of homework on the teams that might take Ming and Houston was on their list.

They meet with Houston tomorrow and George Postolos said he wants to stress to them that Houston has a lot to offer.

To that end, the Rockets put together a video with local members of the Asian community (including children and community leaders) to influence him. City Councilman Gordon Quan and State Representative Martha Wong are trying to help as well saying that it is very important to people from Asia that they see that there are people here like them in the community.

Not much new, but some stuff.

Do you people go to Houston's China Town? It used to look alot better, now it looks like crap though. There is only like four or five restaurants and grocery stores there. I can name only like two decent Restaurants and two decent stores. Kim Son, and the Kim Son Ballroom, Long Sing Super Market, and Kim Hung Super Market. The rest of it is crap. Plus there is a Mexican restaurant nestled inbetween the stores.
The other Asian Communnity in SW Houston is bigger and better. I am refering to Bellaire.
Vietnam town's street is being torn up for light rail. But it still looks good.

    That's about it.

Unless the original owner sold it, Kim Son is owned by a chinese person. Maybe you are confused because he came from Vietnam, but he is Chinese. As I stated before on the bbs, a lot of Chinese people in Houston are classified as Vietnamese because they immigrated from Vietnam after the war.

Well if they arent trading the pick, then Im gettin my Caucasian community to get on the Rockets butt about drafting Mike Dunleavy Jr. Houston has a lot to offer a young white man, lets start with the ladies!! This is ridiculous, why show him a video?? We draft him, then he gets to make millions and come to America....case close. Another reason NOT to draft Ming, too complicated and he's a future bust!

Yeah..I'm preparing my Dunleavy video right now!!!

It's all about how cool it is to be white in Houston!!!

There's me and my wife and all our friends at a DMB concert....there's me and my little white son at the Astros game...there's me and my white father enjoying lunch together at a lovely downtown dining establishment...there's me shaking hands with one of my black friends, because we all "just get along!"...there's me doing the white-man overbite trying to dance at one of Houston's trendy club establishments...

At the end, there's a panoramic view of a bunch of white people in Hermann Park, taken from above. We're waving and singing...we finish the song...and in unison we shout..."We love Houston, Mike!!! You will too!"

I've eaten at Kim Son a few times when I was in Houston, but that was several years ago. I don't remember, but isn't Kim Son Vietnamese food? Or is it one of those restaurants where you find a bit of everything? Man, I miss good Chinese/Vietnamese food... Dallas is a hell-hole of chain restaurants... but I digress...

    Ugh... :(

Do the Rockets really think Yao and the Chinese will be impressed by seeing these two?

    DoD,

At one point it was Vietnamese...now it is becoming more and more Chinese and what little Vietnamese remains is generally pretty bad...and not so authentic.

As far as Dallas, you have one small hope, if it is still around. There is a restaurant called Hao Giang. It is a small hole-in-the-wall maybe on Wycliff - or around that area (Oak Lawn, Maple, etc). Anyway, it was great and authentic. I still crave their crispy whole fish...despite not eating fish for some time.

for all of his life, Ming has been surrounded by a billion Chinese people....why would he want it to remain that way? SHow him some diversity...show him a nudie bar!

And this whole "We love you Ming!" is sick. Have they no class?

I thought it was hilarious. And I think it's bit absurd to be going through all of this for Yao. If he was a player from the US and had all these people around him demanding things, people would be roasting him.

I say if they don't want him here, fine. If we could trade the #1 for Memphis's #4 and Lorenzen Wright, I'd prefer that anyway. I think Dunleavy/Woods and Wright would help this team a lot and then adding another player with the 15 would give us good depth.

I would actually trade the pick straight up for Jermaine O'Neal.

All of us on the BBS should take Yao and his goons from the Chinese Govt. out to Michael's, Treasures, and Colorado. We could buy them drinks and get him a bunch of "private dances" if you know what I mean. I hear anything can be had for the right price at these fine establishments.

Then after the club, we could all hit up the new Waffle House on HWY 6 and Beechnut. Or maybe go to the House of Pies.

Dallas has a China-town too, Dunk. It is on Greenville between Cambell and Spring Valley or so. I have a lot of asian friends, and they take me to places like that all the time. I couldn't tell you any of the names, though, as I think most of them are in Chinese and I can't remember.
