How about you force all call manufacturers to build in bluetooth handsfree kits into cars.

Then, you develop technology by which cars will not function unless phones are put away in a box in the car.

It is illegal here in Australia to text/talk on a phone(unless using hands free) and its one law im happy with and would think I deserved to be fined for if I ever got caught. I also believe the sort of people that do this sort of thing a lot like young women, uptight businessmen(sorry to generalize I know not all do it) etc. are normally already the bad drivers on the road, so these people shouldn't be adding an extra difficulty to their concentration. Even here where it is illegal you daily encounter idiots cutting people off etc. while talking on their phones.

This entire debate misses the point. The way we use cars in this country for personal transportation is extremely dangerous, and it is becoming more so with every mile of concrete we lay to avoid the real solution(s). We need to be phasing cars out, not doubling down on them (see: expansion, Katy Freeway).

You should not be able to text or check the internet under any circumstance while driving.

I don't think you should talk on the phone, either, but I don't know that it should be legislated against.
