Yeah, Reba Macintyre trying to sing popular country. I.E. the carrie underwood, Mylie Cyrus type song. When you consider that she has released some of the greatest traditional country albums of all time.
Yeah. That may explain why people like Paul Wall, Bun B, Slim Thug, etc. Sorry it doesn't work as well as that off beat east coast or boring west coast junk. Good call though. Maybe I'll develop a special taste to appreciate your post.
I heard saw that Stanky Leg video like a week ago. It really makes you think: How do people like this get record deals? These record execs must think that America will eat up any horrible rap song if it has a dance that goes along with it...and they're right. I miss the early 90s when mainstream hip-hop and good hip-hop were the same thing.
Not sure where this dude is from or who he is and didn't want to start a new thread. I like the music, not so sure about the actual rapping. The answer to the question in the thread title is YES. Dallas Cowboys rock: http://www.wfaa.com/video/index.html?nvid=346219&shu=1
How can a city so close to Houston go oh so wrong... I'd rather hear Crickets Chirping featuring Men Farting than this high pitched junk they call rap.
Can't... make it... to the... end. OMG! I have seen 12 year olds on Rockband at Costco do better than that!
dont hate. michael watts is the man back to the topic - big tuck had a couple of good songs. rack daddy was pretty cool too.
Obviously, you lose if you watch it all, but you should watch it again and fast forward to 4:33 when it REALLY gets good. and turn it up to 11.
How do you know your pop fad is played out? When Jeff Macke of freakin' Fast Money on CNBC mentions it. He just made a reference to the Ricky Bobby. Damn.
Dallas/Denton may be terrible in the rap scene, but they have produced some amazing acts recently in the indie rock scene that have become nationally popular. Houston in comparison is terrible in that regards.
Because kids like them and because of YouTube. The in thing for kids now is to do these dances and post vids of themselves doing them. So now kids are like "I bet you can't do this Ricky Bobby like me". Type in any one of these songs at YouTube and watch how many hits you get.... I would hate, but I'm the same dude that loevd Kid-N-Play, the Humpty Dance and MC Hammer.....
Well, part of it is that they really don't search for talent in the rap community. For the most part rappers have to prove themselves as independent artists before ever getting signed, most of them end up having a hit single locally and then sign to a label. It's actually sad because the only people who have the time and energy to keep up with all the local acts are kids. So, only the rappers that appeal to kids are the ones that get the radio play, tv appearances, etc. that go along with being signed to a major label. Hip hop A&R's don't care about talent at all, it's all about what buzz you have. It's easier, less risk. Stanky leg is a dance, it will sell. Who knows if people want to hear some new artists' life story?
