Good thing I got to watch it free on my laptop. How can people get so hyped for this stuff. Oh well, I hope the Houston areas got some money out of it.
That was a pretty weak main event. That's the first match I've watched in like 2 years, pretty disappointing. I'd like to see that Taker/HBK match, though.
Only match I ever saw of Wrestlemania as it happened. <object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/GUrxFzynrjs&hl=en&fs=1"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/GUrxFzynrjs&hl=en&fs=1" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object>
Its Wrestlemania. We're talking 72,000+ in Reliant Stadium. The atmosphere alone is worth going. There is no way you can compare watching a crappy laptop stream to being there live and in person. Its truly a sight to see. Say what you want, but the WWE is top notch when it comes to presentation. I thought the Undertaker/HBK match alone was worth admission.
best match. Undertaker vs Shawn Michaels. Why it was so good? I actually thought UT would lose. Money in the bank was good. Everything else was alright.
yea, hands down, best match was Taker vs. HBK, the crowd was pretty into it, THE best match I've seen live, other than the dark match between Stone Cold and the Rock after Smackdown went off the air after the 9/11 Smackdown Money in the Bank match was good, shock to see that CM Punk won it for the 2nd straight year, may get a big push was disappointed of the Divas rumble cause well, one they all went to the ring at once without ever knowing who the hell was in it, and 2, freaking Santino won it, but made it as funny as it could be the Hardy match was another disappointment, felt it was too short the Cena/Big Show/Edge match was too predictable Orton/Triple H could've been better, you knew it was going to be bad when both did their finishes in the first 2 mins after Kam told me that X7 maybe considered the best WM ever, I had to remember the card for that and have to agree
I've got to agree with Kam. WM X7 was prolly the best of all time. Austin vs. The Rock. Taker and Triple H sluggin it out on the soundstage in the crowd. And TLC.....now THAT was a Wrestlemania. I agree wit you though. I was extremely disappointed in the Hardy's match. That had potiential for greatness and instead, we're left feeling like we're missing something. Especially compared to their performance in TLC back at WM X7. The same can be said for the Main Event. I atleast expected the McMahon's to be involved in some way.....and all we got was "a look" at each other backstage. WTF. I will however say that Taker vs. Michaels match is probably one of the best matches in the history of the WWE. That SHOULD have been the Main Event. P.S....Dave, thanks for the tip on Wings @ Marq-E. The scene for that Taker was isnae and unforgettable. Cant imagine seeing that LIVE, WOW!
no prob, it was INSANE, I loved the "UNDERTAKER, HBK" chants during the match, that made it there, and the kickouts to every finishing move that was done, was RIDICULOUS, I was cheering for both to kickout after each finish, you really couldn't tell who was going to win, that was an instant classic, easily one of the best matches in the past 5 years will be finishing it off with Raw tomorrow, wouldn't be surprised if Raw was better, heh
i haven't watched in a decade. can someone explain to me - shawn michaels is back? is he still the most popular guy?
My prob with the Michaels Undertaker match was it was too predictable. Undertaker's streak is his legacy. Michaels perseverance is his legacy. Both did what was expected. My favorite WWE match ever is Mankind vs. Undertaker. I think it was Raw match. Undertaker choke slammed Mankind on top of the cage. The cage broke and Mankind fell down I don't know how many feet on to thumb tacks. Now that was awesome.
he originally was done back in Wrestlemania 14 in '98, after Mike Tyson turned on him and Austin beat him, which led to Triple H leading DX and the formatin with X-Pac and the New Age Outlaws. He did "non-wrestling" roles from being Commissioner for a short time in '98, then becoming apart of the WWE's disappointing version the "nWo" after Hulk was out after WM 18. He came back to wrestle Triple H at Summerslam 2002 in a "non-sanction" match. It was suppose to be a one time thing since he had a history of back issues and was told he would never wrestle again after his match with Austin in'98, but he felt good and became an active wrestler again more info on each match can be found here http://www.onlineworldofwrestling.com/profiles/s/shawn-michaels.html the weird thing was, he is a "born again Christian" in real life when he came back, he didn't want to do DX again with the crotch chop, but they brought it back 2 years ago short lived and once in awhile does tag with Triple H as DX, then he did the whole "God like" entrance yesterday, so I guess he kinda backed off with that. he's still a top card today, but does put over the younger talent, nobody can argue he can still put on a show at this stage of his life. From what's rumored, he may take a lot of time off after this WM match, and maybe leaving the ring for good.
IIRC....Mankind was actually knocked out in reality after that move. My favorite. TLC 2 @ WM X-7....Edge spearin Jeff Hardy 20 ft in the air while Hardy tries to hang on to the belt, suspended above the ring. WOW! And then you had Rhyno sending Matt Hardy and Devon Dudley, who were on a 20 ft ladder, flying outside the ring, crashing through 4 stacked tables. That match was a car wreck.....man I miss those days.
The Mankind/Undertaker Hell in a Cell match was King of the Ring '98, actually. And he wasn't knocked out on that particular bump, but rather the next bump where he was chokeslammed through the top of the cage on a chair and broke through to the mat - because the chair caught him in the head when they hit the ground (per Foley's first book).
just came back from Raw as expected it was more entertaining than WM, the 5 on 5 WM rematches was good, Santino/a match was actually pretty hilarious, and the return of Batista was awesome, since it was rumored he wouldn't be back till June. great weekend overall, the only thing disappointing was WM itself, but the Undertaker/HBK match was one for the ages.
For some reason, I think Michaels might be the greatest in-ring performers in modern pro wrestling history. I'm not a fan of his, especially during his 90s stint. But, I don't there has been other wrestlers in America that have created as many exciting matches as HBK. I think one of the first two ladder matches vs. Ramon (WM X) or Hart (house show, unseen in 92). Were probably the greatest ladder matches ever. While his other Wrestlemania matches against Tatanka, Bret Hart, Stone Cold, Ric Flair, Diesel, Chris Jericho, and Kurt Angle...might be the most memorable collection of Wrestlemania matches vs. anyone else, even Hogan and Savage.
didn't want to start a thread on this so I'll just post it here. King Kong Bundy was giving an interview on 1560 last week. He started talking about how the creators of Married With Children were wrestling fans and names on the show were from wrestlers including of course the Bundys. Steve and Marcy Rhodes, Dusty Rhodes and so forth. He also said that all those women like in the customers in the shoe store were strippers or p*rn stars.
I didn't know that Mike from Real World New York is in this business! I saw him wrestling other night and I asked my dude if that was Mike. I think John Cena is hot.
