You know why TMac got killed by the fans? Because he was paid to play at the 'MAX' level, but didn't. The same is true with Yao, anything less than 'MAX' performance, he should be blamed. No one expect Alston, or Scola, or Battie, or Brooks to dominate, because they are not paid to do that!
How stupid is that. You know, it's GM's job to get something of value if your star player isn't going to resign. Short of Yao Ming doing a two-face, why put the onus on the guy. You know, Dream went to Canada, and you know where Steve Francis is right now. Teams don't exactly show loyalty to players, why should the player follow cliches? Plus, if some eggheads in Houston want to hate him for that, he will gain back by people in his new city of his new team loving him. It's all a wash. NBA is a business.

Therefore, you would rather have Hayes in instead of Yao for defensive purposes. To spell it out for you, Hayes>Yao on defense. Read it over again, don't twist my words because you don't have an argument. Also, I never said Yao is a good defender that people just don't know. I said Yao is a better defender than what people like you are saying, that he is BAD defensively. Where's your list of players that contribute on defense other than Yao, Battier, and Artest? KG made it out of the 1st round because of guys like Sprewell and especially Sam Cassell who has one of the biggest pair in the recent history of the NBA, which I'm sure MOST people on this forum would know from this team's own history. I know you're a TMac fan from your name, but don't ever compare KG and Tmac again with respect to their situations. Tmac quit in Orlando, quit here. KG NEVER quit in Minn. KG would be and is the type to get into Yao's face to man up, instead of Tmac coasting 24/7. TMac has had chances that he lost, KG never had chances until he got out of Minn. That's why he's still beloved in Minn and Tracy is hated in Toronto and Orlando.
on yao's behalf, it'll be better for him to fulfill the last year of his contract than to opt out in 10's summer when there will be tons of decent players availible in the FA market. Yao won't get even one dime more if he opts out in 10's summer, especially considering the bad economic condition. Lebron and Wade will definitely take the most luxury offers from Jersey and NY, so yao will have no better option other than remaining in houston for one more year. If yao really thinks houston sucks so bad that he can never get a ring with rockets, then he may just refuse to re-sign with rockets and automatically becomes a FA in 11's summer. Yao will definitely get a much better offer in 11's off-season as the economy will get better in 11 than 10 and there won't be too many good players become FAs that year, the best center competing with yao in the FA market will just be Erick Dampier who used to be the second best center in the western conference.
Which is exactly the point I'm making the NBA is a business. Parties in the said business can do what ever they place within their given rights. I've already said I wouldn't hold it against Yao to do what's best for him. But can I like him less if he left the team on bad terms? I would say yes. How can you be a fan of the team and not be mad if the star players leaves if the team makes a reasonable offer? I'm not saying it would be wrong for Yao to leave the Rockets if he feels he can better fulfilled elsewhere; what I am saying is that it would also be quite alright, even expected if the fans didn't like him for that. P.S. I was a little angry at Hakeem for going to Toronto, on the other hand, they offered him more money and (at least promising) a bigger role than what he had in Houston. That's not the same as taking a equal or worse offer and leaving the team, which would just crush me if Yao did that. On the other hand, if Morey offered something like a 3 year max deal to Yao and he leaves to sign a full length max somewhere else, I'd be mad at the Rox organization instead of Yao.

Im not going to waste my time reading this thread but I will say this. We are dropping 23 million salary in a year. Yao, a center that relies on finesse and height, is not going to be that much worse than he is right now at the age of 30. You can easily pick up a first option at 23 million. While Yao is the best center in the league, a center absolutely is not better than a guard at being the first option with the league's illegal defence rules as it is.
Yao isnt going anywhere, but with Tracy's money they should be able to get a player like Wade to play with Yao. Am i right?
