According Yang Yi, Yao will 95% opt out. Laugh all you want, Yang Yi so far turn out to be truthful to his words.
Yao's stats go significantly down this year, because of RA's system. He is only willing to to do this on the condition we can win and can get out of first round. If this is not happening, I don't see any reason, any reason at all, he will not opt out next year. So, no, this is NOT a knee jerk reaction.
You missed the point. Yao and RA are "great player, great coach. Bad fit." according to SI. Maybe Yao shares the same sentiment.
So posting your "instant opinion" after watching one "disappointing loss" (seriously, did anyone expect us to win this game?) isn't a knee jerk reaction? Last time I checked, that's the definition of knee jerk reaction. Good job, buddy. As for the topic at hand, I really don't think Yao will be any more successful anywhere else in this league. The way the NBA has evolved has made players of Yao's ilk nearly irrelevant. Zone defense and hand checking rules have turned it into a guard oriented game and left the true centers no good place to fit in. I just don't think with the way things are that there's ever going to be any more truly dominant, back-to-the-basket centers, regardless of where they play. So Yao can sign somewhere else if he wants, but if it's more success he's looking for... not the best decision.
OK. In the first place, your post was idiotic, with all due respect. Ignoring the bulk of it, which was a waste of time to read, the part I bolded here, above the "flame me!!!" BS, is a complete contradiction. (sigh) We just lost to the best team in the league, as much as it pains me to say anything the least bit complementary to the Lakers. That it should produce a host of stupid posts, like this one (again, with all due respect), has become predictable, but it's still irritating as hell.
It's time to part Yao and RA after lose the 1st round this year since RA's king system is not fit for the current Rockets: All low efficiency selfish guids kill Rockets. Rockets should keep only the high efficiency players: Yao, Carl Landery, Luis Scola, and Battier. The problem are: when Yao was in low post, the guards, especially Ron, didn't feed him the balls. when Yao was in high post for pick&roll, the guards, cannot shoot the balls from the perimeter or attack the board. Fire the RA and trade Tracy for established guard, like Nash, may be the Rocket's best choice!

Yao Ming has been a bust ON defense ever since he joined the league as the top pick. I remember people saying he would be much better on D then on O. Just find a new coach please...
Threads like this are further reminder that all Yao fans really care about is Yao, and no one else. I am all for trading Yao if we can get a real superstar in exchange. I believe it would be a mistake if the Rockets never even entertain the idea of trading the guy to get other pieces that might help the team more in the long term. You never know what you can get until you put him out there. That being said, I would rather keep Yao and get a player who will relegate him to his natural preference to be the 2nd option.
I would just be happy if Yao learns how to catch the basketball.....he looks like a grown man trying to catch a ping pong ball.....you just want to grab him and yell..GRAB IT ....man....JUST GRAB IT !!! I have wanted our post entry passes to be more crisp and right at Yao's head...he will learn to catch them much better after he gets hit in the noggin a few times. DD
