no, malone got the mvp when he wasn't in the conference finals last year. ------------------ THE DEAN HAS WRITTEN
MVP votes and other votes are due the Sunday before the season ends. The playoffs have no relevance to the award- the award is for "Regular Season" MVP. They just announce it late, in the conference finals. However, the voting is done much, much earlier. ------------------
Cat is right on!!!!!!!!!!!!! As with all "season specific" awrds, the voting closes prior to the playoffs beginning. The ROY for instance, that everyone is voting on at ESPN, is NOT the official vote. Nor is it historically very accurate. Sorry. The ROY, MVP, League Sixth Man,etc... are already decided. Just waiting for the tabulation. ------------------ "Let me get this straight .... we pay him $4.5 million dollars a year to play 82 games right? And, the other guy we pay $6 or $7 Million a year to stop the other team from scoring and maybe to score once in a while too!" ......... Popeye's darling sweetpea attempting to figure out WizBang and CaveInTo's role on the Rockets.
just wanted to know, let's say that, by any chance, the Lakers are eliminated in the first round. does that deprive Shaquille O'neal of the MVP award? cuz the MVP trophy's usually given in the conference Finals... ------------------ Dream's Team!
