Did the Rockets win this Trade? or Was this one of those unique situations were everyone benefitted I think the Nets definately are getting some good use out of these guys But still prefer GRIFF Rocket River
This trade you're going to have to look at a couple of more years down the line. I'm pretty sure we got the better player and NJ got quality depth. I'll always take a star player for 3 average players any day.
I think it's pretty much just going to come down to which player is better, Griffin or Jefferson. Collins or the other guy, whose name I don't even know (Armstrong?), most likely aren't going to amount to anything. And does anyone really think Jefferson will be better than Griffin? Advantage: ROCKETS!
I don't know if you guys have seen Jefferson play much, but he's an excellent defender, very explosive, and not a bad shooter. He plays very smart and though he'll never be a superstar he could definitely be a crucial part of a championship team. He's much better than I thought he would be coming out of college.
I think at this point its a draw and then, like DC said, it'll come down to Jefferson vs Griffin. Collins, to me, will give the Nets some size and depth. I dont know if Armstrong is even on the playoff roster. Jefferson should be a starter by next season because he is clearly more talented than Kittles or Lucious Harris. Overall, I think Griffin will be a better player than Jefferson and thus, it was a decent deal for both teams.
I'm glad we made the trade for Griffin, and I believe the future will conclude the same, since you almost always do better obtaining the best player for lesser players, and Griffin slid down to us, many thinking he was the best player in the draft, but rumors of his attitude caused people fear, which have turned out to be totally unfounded. Of course, NJ could have made this a much more difficult decision if they had drafted better. For instance, if they had taken Jefferson, Haywood and Tinsley... or Jefferson, Randolph, and Parker, etc.
I think you have to throw the 1990 draft into the equation to fairly analyze the trade, because we used the extra pick from that draft to obtain EG. So looking back, would you rather have Prizbilla, Jefferson and Collins (the three we picked), or Griffin and Collier? IMO, given that we now have the number one pick, in retrospect, we are better with Griffin and Collier. Otherwise, we would have won at least a few more games this year, and would be picking a lot lower. I also think one superstar (which Griffin may turn out to be) is better that two or three good players, which is why I think we should take Ming. This is because only one player can touch the ball at a time. This is why the Lakers with the two best players in the league are better than any other team with a more balanced cast.
if all the players involved peaked last year than maybe we got screwed. fortunately cd and co. made the trade looking 2 years down the road when eddie is possibly an all-star.
Just a look at how the other parts of this trade are doing they seem to be doing ok for NJ Happy for them but i'm satisfied with E Griff. Rocket River
