I was not including morey in... pay attention to the OP's post, the scola/battier for MVP comments started from morey himself. I am a morey apologizer
I still don't understand why Daryl Morey started such a meaningless debate about whether Scola or Battier is our MVP, as Morey is well known as a hardworking man who always works his bottom off. He wasted his time on making such a debate that makes no sense... there is no debate at all that Scola is the MVP of our team.
Don't you love to have Yao on your team? Because you can take him for granted, and pay more attention to pamper other players. No team can handle 2 TMacs, but with TMac and Yao, you don't need to worry about that, even when they were losing. Shaq and Kobe were fighting for that alpha dog role/recognition, that they couldn't co-exist even after 3 rings. Of course, some call that "leadership" and "aggressiveness". In any other team, if you say your 3 million (lottery pick aside) guy is the team MVP over your 15 million guy, after your option 1 went down, you might either get slapped by the franchise player (Shaq style) or get trade demanding from that player (TMac style). But since we are talking about Yao, you don't need to worry. He doesn't care too much about those words, but rather actions. I saw similar examples over and over in career. I had Caucasian employees come to me to ask for raise or promotion every six months (when economy was good). But I also had Chinese and Vietnamese employees never asked for anything, but expected you to take care of them and appreciate their values. Once I had a Chinese engineer quit on me, for better opportunities, because he felt he wasn't appreciated enough. I asked him during exit-interview why he didn't complain earlier, he said he felt that's not something he should demand. Not saying that this taken-out-of-context MVP talk would offend Yao or anything, nor am I having any problem with it. But from lots of talks on the board in general, as a Rockets fan, I just hope that day doesn't happen to Yao and Rockets.
I would have to say that we have a co-MVP. Luis Scola and Yao Ming. Having Yao changes the game in both the offensive and defensive setups. Yao Ming demands double teams and allows the open threes that our offense requires. However, Yao doesn't rebound very well on a consistent basis. Here is where Scola comes into play. Scola is a rebounding machine and an offensive threat at the same time. Luis Scola has been consistent while Yao hasn't. Its a tough call...therefore, co-MVPs.
Good post, I doubt Yao Ming care about fans' perception, but he will probably take notice Morey's statement.
You are some kind of dimwit. I guess everyone in the media including Gary Payton, Jon Barry, and others are all chinese bandwagoners because they think Yao is the best center in the league. Luis Scola is a good player but his name is never mentioned when you're talking about the top 10 PFs in the league. He is a fan favorite because he works hard and has a good personality but we're not losing as much if he goes down and we have to start Landry as compared to if Yao went down.
Morey is trying to down the value of Yao on NBA, so we can keep him from other team to try to get him or he really thinks Scola is the MVP of the team, he is not that stupid, is he?
yao is the superstar and mvp by far. scola is great and its his SECOND YEAR!! he is very underrated by the media and fans artest is putting up numbers that are winning games for us brooks is developing quickly as a surprised starter late in the season von wafer is a baller. nuff said.
