Stop jockin SAM! There may have been another college somewhere else in the country that used it first but around these parts SAM Houston was first. Whats next, is HBU gonna start chanting it too? Did President Houston make a law that states any college using his name chant "eat 'em up?" I'll always cheer for the coogs when they aren't playing Sam but I gotta say something so ppl don't think we are the one's jockin. UH has a cool gang sign though, lol, I remember when Chuck made fun of Clyde for throwing it up in an interview.
I think they should throw the UH logo on there, on the back on top of Nike or something, it would look real nice.
Are you high or just r****ded? You REALLY think SHSU started Eat 'em up around here? I guess THIS and THIS are just brand new, huh? Ridiculous.
Better watch out who u call r****ded, gonna wind up like Kip in kickin it old school. A UH music director, Dr. Will Moffit, made the fight song, Eat em up; eat em up, eat em up, rah rah rah was a chant in the fight song (in 2000 the rah rah rah was changed to go coogs go) but there's a dispute to wether he had already made that while he was director of bands at Michigan St. The song became a UH favorite and UH fans started using the phrase "eat em up." Moffit started at UH in 1969. Sam Houston adopted the nickname Bearkats (using a k instead of c to denote a mythical creature) in 1923 when it joined the Texas intercollegiate athletic association. During the 1930 football season Sam Houston (9-0-1) started the phrases "eat 'em up" and "axe the jacks" (for the SFA game). Currently SHSU fans make a claw with their right hand and chant eat 'em up while moving their "claw" in a circle motion away from their shoulder upward. Like I said b4, I doubt Sam was the first to start it as far as the nation goes but around these parts we already had it for almost 40 years. UH is a much bigger school in a much bigger city with more exposure and now has dumbass' like yourself that calls me high or r****ded for being correct. BTW, I never took ppl using the word r****ded offensively til my cousin had a down syndrome baby, he's still awesome. If u wanna call me that to my face I'll gladly meet up though. Now who's ridiculous?
Actually, the r****ded was referencing George W. Bush in South Park, but I got the quote wrong. That said, yes, I'd say it to your face and buy you a beer afterward -- make no mistake, I have no malice in anything I say. http://www.southparkstudios.com/clips/153686 Dr. Moffitt's, "Eat 'em up!" was from US Army mess calls. It's been going on a long, long time. But you might be right; SHSU might have been the first around here to use it. No one's stealing anything from anyone, however; no regional school would ever do that.
I had a set of Big Nikes when I played in junior high. hehe looks the same too other than the colors. I would wear these just to represent.
LOL... that is the funniest thing that I have read on this board in awhile. So what is Dan Rather up to theze dayz?
