I am a basketball fan from shanghai china. In fact now a lot of fans like NBA. We are concered about the NBA Drafts. We are glad to know that ROCKET won the 1st drafts. Becaesue Rocket had a very very very excellent center BIG DRREAM. So I think your team has a good coach to train Yao Ming. ^_^. Your USA fans dont know now situation. In fact, our chinese fans dont like the China Basketball Assiociation. We dont agree the rules. Why the goverment want Yao to Pay 50% fees to them. But that's the rules in China. You have to abide it, no other chocie. Because the goverment officers want to get money from Yao Ming, DAMN, that's in china, if you successed. everybody want to scratch your benifits. So, I think your news reports should add our government more pressure. Compare Wang Zhi Zhi and Yao, In fact as a Center. Yao is better more than Wang. You know, now in china Wang didnot face to face to Yao in game. Because Yao grows up very very fast. PS: Sorry, maybe my english is very poor. I wish you can understant me.
zero - Welcome to the BBS. Great post and it was well understood. Thanks for passing along the info, especially about the comparison between Wang and Yao. We've seen Wang play here and can get a better feel for the kind of impact Yao would have in the NBA based on a comparison from the Chinese leagues. Also, make sure you spread around China that Rudy T taught Hakeem Olajuwon everything he knows about basketball.
yep, in fact, as a center. O'Neal is a genius, i mean his body size, but Hakeem Olajuwon who that Yao shoud learn from him. We like Hakeem Olajuwon 1994,1995. In fact, a lot of chinese fan know NBA earily, for me I know NBA from Magic Johnson and BIG BIRD
Hey Zero - Thanks for your post.... We look forward to you becoming a Rockets fan for many years to come... Maybe we will all chip in to fly all our new brothers from China to Houston for the first Championship Parade
Welcome, zero. If you are using a computer translator, it is a GOOD one because you are easily understood. Always glad to have new people on board.
Welcome!!!!! And if we draft Ming, this will become your favorite site too. And we will info you of everything Ming does every night.(Good and bad) Welcome once again, please inform us as much as you can now while you can. Thanks
Jeff, with all due respect, where did that come from? Why do you think he's using a computer translator? zero, I'd like to welcome you too. And like everyone else, I think your English is fine; much better than my Chinese Thanks for your insight. I'm very excited about Yao and hope he comes to Houston. The impression I've gotten is that Yao's commitments to the China national team will be infrequent, and shouldn't interfere with training camps and preseason more than once every two, three years or so. Is this correct?
Zero-I just want to welcome you also, and I hope more people like you (who have knowledge also) come on in. I felt I could say that now because I feel like a big boy now. You know, now that I'm a senior member and all. I'm maturing before my own eyes.
If the china basketball team have game, then Yao Ming have to back to play National game, Like Wang Zhi Zhi.
Because a number of our other new visitors from Asia have been using them to talk on the BBS. I just noticed that his English was really very good, yet he was worried about us understanding him. I thought that might be the result of worries over translated text rather than poor language skills. I just noticed that it was very easily understood and, if it was a translator, it must be a good one and, if not, his English is pretty damn good. As an aside, I love the influx of people from other countries here. It is just too cool, particularly China. I have a real affinity for the Chinese culture. As someone who feels very drawn to Buddhist and Taoist beliefs, it is nice to get a close up look at the culture in this way.
This is just the tip off the iceberg Jeff. The BBS is gonna be a different place for sure. Sounds like a thrill to me. The more perspectives, the better. Maybe Cutch could set up a Mandarin forum Now imagine the spectrum if the Rocks grab Nachbar or Tsika later in the draft....
Is anyone else suddenly hungry for Chinese food? Man, I could do some takeout right about now. Mmmmmm....
Maybe we could go on Priceline and grab a 'cheap' flight to Shanghai. Then we could do a little scouting of our own and of course eat a ton of Chinese food. You up for it Jeff? Clutch? Man I'm getting a serious travel bug.
Hey Zero! This is just great and very interesting to have a person from China that is a new member on this board.
Shanghai is the biggest in CHINA and top 5 cities in ASIA, I think, Your friends can visit shanghai to see it
Chinese in China is definitely different in Shanghai... very hard to find Chinese that makes American style chinese food... that aside it is very interesting... I remember one night I had snake scorpion and Pigeon... that was a special meal they even offered me Monkeys brain to end the meal but I had to pass...
I think I remember reading that Donnie Nelson had to eat snake or monkey when he was visiting/recruiting Wang. If CD & RUDY have to go to China (to see Ming), I wonder if they will eat what they are offered.
I don't think that's the case. The Chinese curriculum includes English from 4th grade (or so) on, and most young college students with Internet skills have passable (especially written) English skills... comparable to what we've seen on this site. And as far as a trip to Shanghai goes... it's only $600-700 if you book ahead of time! It's an outrageously different and fabulous trip.
