He is a great coach, but i dont think he is suitable for Rockets. If possible, Larry Brown is the one we really need.
Jerry Sloan depends too much fouling and flopping. That kind of tactic works very well for cities that have a a crowded homecourt like a one sport town like Salt Lake City, Sacramento, and San Antonio. The Rocket's lower bowl is so empty that the Refs wouldn't feel nearly as much pressure to call it in Yao's favor.Yao would still get abused. There's no way Sloan is going to have Yao flop like Okur with his injury problems. Sloan depends alot on the pick and roll. I don't think Yao setting picks most of the time is the way to go.
jerry sloan is just as clueless and overrated as adelman heck he guards yao with the man playing in back of yao instead of in front. the reason the jazz are so good is because of their gm and because of sloans assistant coaches they are the ones who run all that motion read and react offense with the down screens and the back cuts and what not hes just more of a motivational type of coach but he doesnt do a good job of studying and knowing the opponent thats why i think the rockets will beat the jazz in the playoffs along with boozer being unhealthy.
Hiring Jerry would lead to a Malone assistant coaching job, and that would be like Patrick Ewing coming here to coach. ERRRRR I guess that already happened and we all know how Patrick Ewing and sucking go together. I always wondered what Ewing meant when he said he liked Luther.... wait he said he liked Head! Les explaining to Sloan why having a small herd of large barnyard animals in the Toyota Center basement wasn't going to work: "Jerry, I don't care how you bribed the referees in Utah, I am not putting up with the smell in my arena, and that is final!"
Almost 100 people voted yes. They must be the fans that get to the game during the 2nd quarter, leave during the middle of the fourth, and only cheer when the launch crew is giving away free tees.
I have to admit even though I started this thread I'm enjoying the tribal hatred a lot. This is much more fun than the threads about how we can't beat the Jazz. But hey if you can't beat them then hire them...
I cant think of anything worth mentioning about Jerry Sloan other than the Malone-Stockton years and the Boozer-William years.
