It's like asking if you would want to bring in Ewing as a coach to mentor Yao. ...Oh wait. :(

No. He is a good coach only because he had/has Stockton and Williams.

Part of my why I put this thread in is that my Alma Mater is Cal and our most hated rival is Stanford. In recent years Mike Montgomery's Stanford teams have been going to the NCAA's including making it to the Sweet Sixteen and Elite Eight while Cal has been also rans. This year Mike Montgomery moved to the other side of the Bay to coach Cal. I didn't like it at first but he took a team that was picked preseason to finish 8 in the Pac-10 to 4th and not that far out of first. So while I hated Montgomery when he was on the Cardinal sideline I'm glad he was on the Cal sideline.

Also consider that I hated Roger Clemens but I welcomed him as a Stro. Of course the only good thing to come out of him leaving the Stros was that I can go back to hating him.

Weslinder in another thread said that the Jazz had sold their soul to Satan well as a suffering Rockets fan that's looking like a better better deal. ;)

No way in hell. He preaches a brand of "basketball" consisting flopping and fouling. It is someone I have absolutely no respect for. I am glad, that in his entire tenure with that ****ty franchise, he has won absolutely NOTHING!

The day Jerry Sloan coaches the Rockets is the day I cease to be a fan. I could never cheer for the type of play he employs. While the players receive most of our Jazz hate, we can't forget the source of that team's evil.

I'd rather have Hitler rise from the dead to coach the Rockets than Sloan.

I understand the idea of disliking "fill in the blank" when they are on another team and then liking "fill in the blank" when they've joined yours, but we're talking about Jerry Sloan here! He is that team and that team is at the top of the list of targets worthy of my unalloyed rage. The Jazz! The man may be a great coach, but We have to draw a line somewhere.

Artest a Sloan-type of player? Maybe on defense.

Sloan wouldn't really jive with Yao's softness, or Brooks' shoot-first style of play. Or T-Mac's perennial injuries and poor outcomes.

Yeah, he's probably a little too tough for the Rockets. Not a good idea.

I respect him but I think he has the same flawed approach as JVG....which is overcontolleditis !!

Where they try to control too much of the game from the bench.

Has he won any rings with all that time there in Utah? I think not.
