No, he can't. Don't you know that? Every minute is important. He shouldn't even waste his time for meals or family.
This has become the ultimate cliche. Please come up with something new. Nobody rehabs 24 hours a day. He's damned either way - if he didn't people would be complaining about how he didn't support his teammates otherwise.
he should at least be on the bench supporting us...god if he doesnt -_- i hope he'll be with us when we go to the 2nd round, hahaha i am mean
this is hard to figure out....... what really scares me about this whole thing is that in the back of my mind......I just cant shake the thought of Mcgrady seeing this squad doing so well lately........and it getting to his enormous ego.... meaning he sees we just might actually get out of the first round(especially if we dont draw the j*zz)and its driving him nuts.....hes already imagining those headlines in his head and how the media who already rips him will have a fill day with it and he is terrified....... so if we get on some roll in the post season i can see tmac trying some lame willis reed type moment to steal all the glory and show he was part of a rockets roll finally and also to get that playoff monkey off his back.....yikes!!!!!!!! .......keep in mind i have to much time on my hands to have over analysed this that much so please forgive me....this bbs can do that to u sometimes I have been thinking this...so when i came and saw this MCGRADY ATTENDS SHOOTAROUND .thread, my mind went in overdrive...l0l......rant ends here...
damned if he does damned if he doesn't The majority of the people on this board really disappoint me. Rather then judge Tracy McGrady based on his full body of work as a Houston Rocket from 2004/2005 to this day (which is largely, and undeniably positive), I see a bandwagon full of mindless haters who lack the ability to construct any morsel of objective opinion. Now I can respect someone who says Tracy McGrady isn't what the team needs, or hurts the offense, or isn't our main star.... But the people that say he is the REASON we never passed the first round, or he is the REASON for all our playoff woes and the REASON for our past decade of mediocrity should move to Salt Lake and live amongst the heathens. I have seen this guy give us his all for multiple seasons and I refuse to succumb to the mob mentality and judge Tracy McGrady based off ONE injury-riddled season of turmoil and disappointment. Give the guy a break, focus on the Houston Rockets and whatever we can do to make the team the best it can possibly be. The superstitions, the hate, the name calling...it's unnecessary and it's unclassy.
How about this then? I think Tmac is a cancer, the way he dominates the ball and kills motion offense is too easy to guard and one of the main reasons he has not led a team out of the first round of the playoffs. Then, he fails to do rehab last year, his knee gets worse (big shocker) and screws the team at the trade deadline by announcing his microfracture (elective surgery) in order for him to get well in time for a new contract(He could also have actually done the rehab to strengthen the knee). I don't want him anywhere NEAR this team....EVER...... That better? DD
It'd be great to see him on the bench. As long as it doesn't disrupt his rehab, I hope to see him cheering the team during the playoffs.
How do you know the organization hasn't already made a decision on what to do with him (as in keeping him)?
I doubt they are stupid enough to make a decision before he has done the rehab, or made his way back onto the court. My guess...and that is all this is....a guess.....is that the Rockets are going to explore trading his contract this offseason, and see if any of the cash strapped teams are interested in unloading some young talent for him? And if they can't get that, they keep him until at least the trade deadline.....and see if they can trade him then. And if by some quirk of fate, TMac is healthy next year (it is a contract year after all) then they would use him as long as he was playing within the team concept. I have no inside scoop, just a general feeling that the team will look at all options, because that is what a good business person should do..... And there is no way a good business person has made up their mind before exploring all options, including trading him.....that would be ignorant, and Daryl Morey is not ignorant. DD
Doesn't microfracture require 12-18 months of rehab to get over? If that's the case then why are people hoping for T-Mac to make any kind of meaningful contribution to next year's team, if he won't even be ready to START training with the team until the All-Star Break next year??
Agreed. Plus, call me "old-fashioned" but he should have to earn the rest of that $21M somehow. If that means asking him to show up to the TC to cheer on his teammates, so be it. There's really no need to '"Marbury him" just yet.
1st I would like to say welcome back. Its been a while since I seen a post by you 2nd I would like to say how in the world is he a distraction?? There was a thread earlier about Marc Stein giving his two cents on what he thought what was going on with the Rockets and he mainly thought it was Rafer. Your basically saying keep McGrady away from the team so he won't distract them. How is he going to do that? Your giving McGrady the Marbury treatment. For what??
Both John Stocton and Jason Kidd made it back in under 5 months..... Tmac had the lightest type of microfracture on a non-weight bearing area..... It was his choice, there were lots of options for him to try to get it better, including intensive rehab to strengthen the quad muscle....he chose to take the microfracture option. There are some players that would be ready for training camp, Tmac might do that...but his history and histrionics would suggest otherwise. DD
I'm probably not the first person to break this to you, DD, but ... You're living in your own make-believe world here -- one in which Tracy McCancer McGrady has been exiled from the team, is hated by his teammates, coaches and managers, and is nothing but a distraction and a chemistry-killer whenever he's around. I know how you got there, and of course plenty of thanks are due to the glorified gossip gods around these parts. I'm sure there's a part of you that even believes that he has a halo of bad-luck around his head that imposes self-destruction on the team by his very presence in the same building. I'm sure Tracy McGrady would cause a pretty nice distraction if he came to visit your house instead of "focusing on rehab" as you like to say. At his own team's shootaround? Not so much.
Yeah, I think it's good for him to be around his teammates... they have a history together and now is the time to be with them. It's play off time and he needs to be there for some of it so he can see what he is missing. Also, you never know what a vet like him could do on the sidelines. I think him not playing is going to give him a fresh look at the game and maybe he'll be able to transfer what he sees to the players. The players have to understand that he's going through a rough spot and I think they're relationship is better than the media and some posters here have made it out to be.
Agree. Funny thing is Yao was out last year and was there for his teammates and I didn't see any distractions. Same for Steve Francis. Just because it's McGrady now all of a sudden its going to be a distraction?? Is it because the team is finally playing better without him and passing the ball? I don't get it.
Tracy needs to come off the bench...he can't be a starter. He makes the team worst off with his pathetic defense and inconsistent shooting. The Rockets are better off with Artest and Battier starting. Tmac MUST come off the bench or else trade him!!
