Thanks to this thread, I called T-Mobile an hour ago and got that unlimited talk plan special AND the 15% discount, and all it will end up costing me is about $5 more per month.

Great company! I don't think I will ever switch to anyone else. Nothing comes even close to price, value or the courtesy of their customer rep people. Have never had a bad experience when I called them.

Thanks for the savings, Fatty :D

I never had any real problems with TMobile except their reception seemed to suck in any building I worked in. The last company I worked for, I got 1 bar if I was lucky. We moved the company to another building about 10 miles away. Bad reception. In both cases, if I exited the building and stood immediately outside, I got 4-5 bars. lol. I got sick of that and switched to AT&T. I haven't had any real problems with AT&T and way back when I had Verizon, they were great, but their plans were pricier.

Tell them that you have been looking into getting the iPhone but the unlimited minutes was going to keep you with T-Mobile...

Dave, GET ME INTERNET ON MY PHONE FOR CHEAP!

I'm about to give up Verizon for AT&T thanks to the high payments. $60.00 a month for 450 minutes and unlimited texts? That's a total rip off.

bah, i work in tech, have no control over rate plans

what you can do, call in to Customer Service, we have a tool to see if there are any discounts available for the company you work for, anywhere from 5-30%, hell we give discounts for Sprint/AT&T employees also

My wife and I pay $120/month for a shared 500 mins, free mobile-to-mobile with any AT&T customer, unlimited web and text... plus my phone gets streaming video and both are Walkman's with great cameras.

Add in the rollover and we NEVER get over charges... plus the price has gone down over the years, and we NEVER pay for a phone.

We started with AT&T back in the old analog days... went to "Primeco" when I sold it, then it switched to Verizon... stayed with them awhile... then back to AT&T about 6 years ago.

Never had any real issues with AT&T. Verizon used to drop a lot where we lived in South Texas... but AT&T has never dropped anywhere in the US we've been, and we've got "world phones."

I will not get an iPhone until I meet someone that tells me the latest one they have (must be the latest model) has at LEAST the features that I can get on my Sony Ericsson Walkman phones (camera, video, movie capabilty, etc... AND is a great, reliable phone with a long battery life).

I hear they are improving the next iPhone by leaps and bounds over the first 3 incarnations, so maybe then...

But every Blackberry owner I meet says to get a berry. Even those who've had an iPhone before say stick with the Bb.

Anyway, never had T-Mobile... don't wish to. One of my bro-in-law's has it, and it's a company plan, or else he's have AT&T.

(I can get discounts on smart phones through AT&T because of my new gig... but I'm waiting for the best, longevity-wise/track record phone to use it.)

Sprint SERO (Sprint Employee Referral Offer) means a sprint employee hooked you up.

This is refreshing...I thought I was the only one getting dropped calls like crazy. I probably get almost half of my calls dropped at least once. For a while it was so bad that even my mom would get frustrated and just tell me to call later. Most of the time I just give up cause I feel bad calling people back only to have it dropped again.
I called Tmobile and they basically cannot do anything. The worst part is that they cannot do any customer service for the G1 in the store and they just tell you to call customer support but I do not really have another phone that I can use to call them while I am looking at my phone. I thought the 3G network and getting the G1 would come with better coverage but I was wrong. Now I am stuck with a badass phone that has horrible coverage for the next 2 years. I have unlimited minutes but it is pointless because now I use less than ever. On the other hand...I get unlimited minutes, texts and internet for $70 a month. So at least it is cheap?

I've been with tmobile for about 6 years and as the years progressed the service and quality has been declining. my calls were being dropped left and right, sometimes numerous times in one conversation! both incoming and outgoing. signal strenght is so weak it's pathetic. text messages were not being sent or received, Internet's crappy... the list goes on.. so recently I asked people I know and decided to go with AT&T and so far I've been really happy and satisfied with their service! have not lost any signal nor dropped any calls also Internet is fast and has not disconnected me yet. not even once. So for all you residing in SoCal, I recommend it. AT&T is a bit pricey, but I think it's worth it rather than sticking with cheap crappy tmobile service.

Well anyway you can refer me man? I did not know that a Sprint employee can refer you and you would get such a rate.

    Thanks for the info

Yeah but that is like $100, I get the same plan with better service from T-Mobile for $65/month.

I don't care what they call it now as long as it is $25 :p

I went from verizon to ATT specifically for the iPhone. And I was so impressed with it I switched from a PC to a Mac shortly thereafter.

The way I understand the carriers are like so...

Verizon - Best coverage, crappy customer support, good phones that end up completely fubar'd/crippled by verizons stupid software.

AT&T - Ok coverage (terrible for me, unfortunately), decent customer service, great phones (omg someone who lets the phone developers do their jobs??)

T-Mobile - worst coverage, great customer service, innovative phones/hardware (pioneering wifi cellphones ftw)

Sprint - crap coverage, worst customer service, overpriced everything

That being said, I plan on switching to Verizon the moment the ATT/iPhone exclusivity contract runs out

tmobile has spotty coverage, a bad phone lineup, but is the cheapest.

AT&T has the iphone, spotty-okay coverage, and has rollover

Verizon has the best coverage, but has as good of phones overall as AT&T.

Sprint? In between verizon and at&t in terms of network, but phone lineup is only ahead of tmobile.

But hey the g1 might be coming out with a new one soon and it could become the best phone on the market (better than the iphone)
