I watched the vid of him teaching it to Joey, now I just see Battier and Scola do it to perfection. I have to guess that the reason so many players on our team do this is because of CD. Anyone know?
remember hearing back in the early 90's days that CD would teach that shot to all the post players. it seemed for a while like all our backup PF's could get a bucket inside with that move. carl herrera, mark bryant, kevin willis etc, could all turn to the middle and make that shot.
So CD invented the hook shot now? Maybe these players learned it on their own. It's called mastering your craft.
Battier has had it for a few years now, they just never ran plays for it very often, if at all. Not sure if he learned it here though.. I think I Scola had it already. I'm guessing it's part of their "big man" drills in general though, so they all probably either picked it up or polished it at the very least.
Scola always has been a SCORER. He always had an extensive repertoire to post up; here, he's famous for that. He was a go-to-guy in europe and defenses were oriented on him every game.
lol yes of course, carrol dawson is the only person in the basketball universe with the pedagogical capabilities to teach the hook shot. nowhere at duke or at the argentinian national level could battier and scola have picked up such a skill.
I saw CD's video interview teaching Dorsey the hook shot,he mentioned everyone's name except for Luis.
took Hakeem 2 years to learn the drop step at UH from Guy V... so Im sure other people are capable of teaching players basketball.
And I have noticed that in several games, Rick will go to Battier in the post as the first play of the game.
Slam dunk. I have seem him do it twice. It's too bad he doesn't have explosiveness to dunk more often.
