I have never really griped at my PC enough for me to think "Oh I wish I had a mac" IMO the biggest problem with PCs right now are Vista's bad rep. Windows will make a good comeback when the highly-anticipated 7 comes out. Good ad, nonetheless. Really nails the point.
That is a total assumption that marketing companies hope consumers will make. I'm not going to argue that people can and do choose to pay a little more for the Apple design and operating system but the question is are the marginal benefits of those things greater than the cost difference? You can not assume that because Apple's cost more, then they're better. Right now you can get amazing bang for your buck in PC land, the same cannot be (is usually never) said about Apple products. If cost is relatively no object I might buy an Apple, though I'd buy it full well knowing they're bending me over. I have no problem paying for quality (I'm typing on a 5 year old IBM Thinkpad T42 that I paid $2500 for) but if the added cost is greater than the marginal benefit I ain't buying an Apple. Keep in mind, I also have a 3G iPhone and a 2nd gen Nano. They're both great products but I don't know if given the chance I'd get them again.
PC's might be cheaper but, overall MAC is better. Price is a factor in choosing between a PC or MAC but, like others said you get what you pay for. Stay tuned for the near future Apple release.
I loved Microsoft's "I'll be the bigger kid" attitude up until this point.. they've decided to take all the cheap r****ded douchefag Justin Long "oh hai I'm mac kthx bai!" irritating ad campaign and not respond to it simply by saying "look at the score board".. but now, it's a bit too much, and Apple will wish that they never waged that stupid campaign because Microsoft will spank them hard.. I've always wanted Microsoft to make a ripoff of the "mac vs. PC" commercial with the educated guy running a "real" program, ya know, other than the wiki wiki wiki DJ'ing program, and asking the mac dude if he can do it on his glossy piece of junk, then have the mac guy answer "no, but my lappy is shiny! LOLZ!" but I have faith in mentally lower-than-average people to keep the Macs in business by purchasing "anything shiny and made by apple".. for 3000 bucks
Riddle me this, why is the mac so "virus inpenetrable"? I don't feel like googling this and see there are a few posters on here with Macs.
because no one bothers to make a virus for the macs, they're simply "not worth the time" of those people because so few of them exist, and no public or official agency uses Macs..
See. Those kind of work for me, probably because I have young children. I did think the pricing issue is an area where Microsoft can really hit Apple. In the recent past, when you compare component to component, the Apple pricing isn't that far off from a similar PC from the major manufacturers (depending on the model, brand, etc.) But the PC world has tons of other available options, offering plenty of price points that could potentially fill a customer's needs. For example, I wanted just a cheap laptop that I could use to surf the Internet and to run Word, Excel and Screenwriter. I wanted at least a 15" screen, too. If I went Mac, I would be stuck looking at a 15" MacBook Pro starting at $1,999, which is a fine computer that could not only do the things I wanted, but also all sorts of other things (running FCP, etc.). But I could also just go to Dell or HP and spend $500 or so and get one that does what I need it to do and not much more. So, for my cheap laptop, at least, I went with Dell. But there's still nothing that beats Final Cut Pro Studio in the PC world, so I will remain a Mac owner, though my Mac is dedicated to video editing. I use PCs for my day-to-day stuff.
They better be doing something fast because their market share is been shrinking by the second the last 6 months. I'm hoping for a 7-10 inch iphone like netbook.
pc users are funny... yeah macs are expensive, but i think the operating system is way better than windows and the new touchpad on the new macbooks is very useful as far as browsing the internet and flipping through applications goes. I used to have a PC and I got really annoyed by all the bull****. As long as I have the money for it, I am going to buy a Mac. I dont care if I am getting "ripped off."
good for you, and I applaud your decision because you know what you're getting it for (internet browsing) and it suits your needs and your budget.. but most importantly, you don't go on the internet and brag about how badass your glossy quarter of an inch thick lappy kicks all microsoft laptops asses because of the new touchpad features.. truth is, Microsoft OS is a lot more useful FOR EVERYTHING, it's compatible with everything, it runs everything relatively smoothly once you get used to it, and for us who use our computers for more than checking email/facebook/the bbs, it's definitely the better choice.. heck, two of my friends (who are college students, by the way) got so sick of their inability to do things on a mac that they downloaded VISTA on their 2000 dollar MACs, can you believe that? they chose running the worst microsoft Operating System of all time on their MAC rather than the X it came with.. but it's this cult-like behavior of ostentatious pretentious mac users that gets them this bad rep.. I mean, all you have to do is say: hey man, I use it for web browsing mostly, I'm no gamer or engineer, and I like the simplicity of the operating system, and I am financially comfortable to where I'm willing to make pay the extra bucks for a more suitable OS for my needs..
I realize that. If I dont have enough money for a mac, then obviously im going to buy a PC. I have just had a mac for 5 or 6 years now and I wouldnt want to go back to windows. Sorry PC. Its like whoever said earlier that its like comparing a kia to a bmw. Obvoiusly if you don't have the money for the BMW, you are going to buy a Kia or Honda. I don't know which OS is actually "better," but I do know that it is my own personal opinion that I would rather use the mac OS. I have had a PC before so its not like im just basing my opinion off of nothing. PC users can say all they want about mac, but I seem to know a lot more people that have problems with their PC than the people I know with Macs.
Almost sounds like you have something against Mac users. I completely understand that Macs arent anymore capable of doing anything that a PC can do. I would just rather have a Mac than a PC, sorry. I mean if it really makes you feel better, PC's are better than Macs. They are so great i cant even begin to explain. The only reason I have a mac is for web browsing, I like the simplicity of the operating system, and I am financially comfortable to where I am willing to pay the extra bucks for a more suitable OS for my needs. Otherwise I would own the almighty PC.
Yeah I find that funny as well... what other brand do people identify with each other like that? Oh you're a junior mints guy! Me too! York peppermint patties are so totalllly prole!
