Can anyone actually understand Deke without subtitles? I don't think it's even an English question. I don't think anyone in the Congo can understand him without subtitles, either.
I didn't have any trouble understanding him today. It was short though not really much to recap so I didn't. Did you want one?
RECAP: from where I came in Deke talked about how he loves the game - He thinks he will probably cry as he's packing up his things to go for the last time, but figures its time to let the young ones take his place. Every morning he wakes up and realizes it's getting closer to the end. Will miss his friends and being part of the group of guys and being part of the fun... will miss talking to the fans and media. Part of the life, that has to go on... wants to go and find another job... laughs Asked: What are you going to do? Start business, looking into the energy side - teases that he's going to open more Applebees (they were joking about this earlier before I started recording) - Talking to Magic, Clyde about what they do after their careers and how they dealt with - Says he's getting there... it's more mental than physical. Used to waking up everyday, taking a shower and heading to the gym... it will be different to get up and get on a suit because he has a meeting. Asked: How about going to the TNT studio to straighten Charles out? Asks them "What did yall do to Charles when he was here?" He came here five years ago and he can still not get answer Laugh about Charles for a bit Maybe they will start a fund to raise money to pay Charles. Asked: Talking about his voice in broadcasting Deke: says there was a doctor at Memorial Hermann who asked if he could change his voice and Deke says "Why?" "I am who I am and that's how my mom and dad made me so I have to live with it" The doctor says I have given so many people a good voice and deke says basically "no thank you" Asked: Who was the most difficult to play against at the center position? Dream or Shaq Deke: Dream was unstoppable, his goal was to keep him from scoring forty. If you kept Dream under forty and stop everyone else and you had a chance. They were talking then about how physical Shaq was. Talking about playing him in the finals and how Deke said he took all 45 days of vacation time to recuperate. Just relaxed and slept and took all the medication he could. Then they promoted his golf event. Last bit: Talked about his moment at the SOTU Highest honor that any person can get. Said that took his career to another level, people from all over, even people in Tokyo Japan contributed to his cause after that. Had never heard of him until the SOTU speech. They sent ambulance and equipment... all because of that event. that's about it!
