OSU LOVES to do various full/half court presses and sometimes it works because we have good athleticism/quickness on our team , but our depth sometimes hinders us in the long run. And FYI, we have MUCH more talent than you think. We have 3 former five star players (James Anderson, Byron Eaton, Obi Muonelo) and a former 4 star in Terrel Harris. People in the big media always assume we don't have any talent on our team. Ironically enough, Byron and Terrel were part of the 2005 class that was pegged as the consensus #1 overall recruiting class (on PAPER)
Yeah, I read OSU loves to press and go after the ball. It should be interesting. P.S. I hope you weren't implying I am underestimating OSU and you're just speaking generally. Oh well, off to watch the game.
Man good game.....too bad we just couldn't buy a three point shot in the 2nd half. I think our inexperience and depth just caught up with us. Young killed us too. Oh well we have another top 25 recruiting class for next year. OSU basketball is back baby!
Big XII looking pretty good in the tourney so far. 6-0 in the first round, and 3-3 in the 2nd round, with 3 teams still alive. Other than A&M against UConn, every game has been close (or a blowout win) for the Big XII.
Turns out I missed on Cleveland St in the Sweet 16 too . I had banked on J'Nathan's dreadlocks but forgot that Arizona could counter him with their own dreadlocks off Jordan Hill. Predator got out-Predatored.
I noticed your Sam Young mention in another thread too. Looks like I may not be the only Pitt fan here?
All 12 of the top 3 seed made it. Two fours one five and a 12. So basically if you are not in the top 20 don't bother trying fo final 16 this year.
I got to admit I was rooting for UT in the beggining but knew they weren't going to go anywhere. So I needed to get to root for a team that could win it all, and boy when I saw PITT play these past two games I was impressed. Even though they aren't blowing teams they are playing with heart and passion in crunch time. Dejuan Blair is unmovable and Sam Young, wow, i'm impressed he isn't prospected higher, the guy is just shooting over everyone! Oh and as of Pittsburgh teams, i'm also a lifelong Steelers fan so its probably not a coincidence
far be it for me to either care too much about the ncaa women's tourney or to defend duke, but how big a joke is it that a #1 seed would play a second round game v. a #9 seed at the #9 seed's homecourt?
That actually happened to like 4 teams in the NCAA tourney this year. #2A&M would have had to play #7 Notre Dame in South Bend, IN if ND hadn't choked it up in the first round against Minnesota
Mizzou kicking the dog **** out of Memphis... How can you ever tell how good Memphis is playing the the ****ty Conference USA??
I'd love for it to be easy, but I still think this is going down to the wire. Memphis is too explosive and is getting to the basket too easily, and I doubt we shoot that well all game. But hopefully we can execute in the halfcourt down the stretch -- we have thus far. And maybe the experience of winning a tight game against Marquette will help us out -- that was definitely far better preparation than Memphis had in CUSA and then Maryland. As for the first half, I can honestly say that's the best half of basketball I've seen any team play all year. That was absolutely, positively unreal. I'm smiling from ear to ear and hoping like hell it can continue. I actually think Mizzou matches up favorably with UConn if we can get to Saturday.
I think your team is bound for the Final Four. Memphis' whining about lack of respect rings very hollow.
Damn Missouri is fun to watch and are relentless on both ends of the floor. Every play is heavily challenged defensively with efficient full court pressure, and they have great unselfish ball movement offensively. It should be a great elite eight game vs UConn. I feel good about picking them to final 4 after tonight's showing.
