A_3PO, I want to tell you how glad I am to have you as a poster on this forum. I feel that your basketball knowledge is rivaled by very few around here.
It's a shame Rose has Del Negro as a coach - he could be amazing with an actual teacher guiding him. I expected Beasley to be better - he's showing hints of Charlie V/Dwight Gooden flakiness. OJ Mayo is exactly what I'd figured he'd be - empty calorie scoring. Though he's slightly more efficient than I expected. I'll always be steamed about letting Arthur out of our grasp twice, but we ended up winners with Artest out of the deal. Westbrook's impressing me. Even for a bad team, I didn't see Love averaging 11-9. I thought Gallinari was a bad pick, and think he's even worse of one now. He's got a nice 3, but I doubt he ever starts for any healthy team in the league. Gordon's pretty money as a combo guard, but they need to get rid of Baron so he can develop. Joe Alexander's a massive dud. DJ Augustin, Brook Lopez, and Jason Thompson are okay. I see them as career backups. I didn't expect Jerryd Bayless (or Brandon Rush) to be this bad. Nick Batum's making him look bad.
Huh? Oh, well that's pretty uncalled for. I was paying a compliment. My respect for you just plummeted.
lol it was a joke buddy. It's pretty commonplace that The apolostic one is a very knowledgable on this board.
I didn't say A_3PO was the ONLY poster w/ good basketball insight. I wrote that, "He's rivaled by few in the forum." Joke or no. I think that comment was uncalled for.
DJ Augustin is going to be a badass at the point. He's only 21, and already averaging 11.4 ppg and 3.6 assists in just 26 mpg playing behind Raymond Felton. Because he's shooting 43.3% from behind the arc, he's already good enough to start here in Houston.
Agreed they have young talent, even the Rookie Mike Taylor has shown glimpse of being a solid player. The Clippers problem is they don't have a lot of discipline on that team. I like Al Thornton's game, he just needs to work on his jumper.
I remember we both thought Beasley would have a monster rookie season. Interesting to hear that you still think he will be a star. Why?
Brook Lopez and Courtney Lee are the biggest surprises to me. Lopez is putting up great numbers (arguably better than Rose/Westbrook) and Lee is getting consistent minutes on a great team (Orlando). At a #10 and #22 pick respectively, that's pretty good.
Everyone had extremely high expectations for Beasley coming out which is normal for a #2 pick. Sure, he didn't come out guns blazing with 20/8/2 and or put up much challenge for ROY but he's extremely young and still has all the physical tools and talent to not only improve his 13/5 but more importantly make a bigger impact for his team. He's a PF and most PF's take time to develop. I think we look at him to subjectively based upon the hype coming out of Kstate and being selected 2nd overall. If we take a step back and pretend that he was picked around 15 or so there's no reason to believe why he's not on track to be a star.
I wonder why Beasley busted so much? The dude really looked like a sure-fire star in college to me. How did you go from averaging 20 and 20 a game to becoming a non-factor in the NBA? Some of the websites compared his performance to Durant the past year (realgm specifically), and predicted that Beasley would be just as good or even better. I guess you can never really tell how a player will do until he actually plays in the NBA.
Imagine if Mike D'Antoni had accepted the coaching offer from the Bulls, he and Rose working together, Rose = next Jason Kidd and Bulls become a 45 win team
He's averaging 13 and 5 in only 24 mpg as a rookie. That's pretty good. If he was drafted by a terrible team like Durant was a year ago, he'd probably be a 20 ppg scorer. Per-minute, his scoring isn't that far off from what Durant was doing last season.
By star, I only meant Beasley would be a 20+ ppg player. Beasley is fortunate to be on a team with Wade and in an organization run with an iron hand by a guy like Riles. It will be good for him in the long term.
Hey Brandon Rush finally had a good game lat night. 31 pts and 10 boards. 13-25 from the field. Not to bad maybe he does have some talent he hasn't showed this season. Kudos to him.
Turns out it was a fairly strong draft, and while Danillo would not go 6th if they did it over, it looks like I was right to refrain from declaring him a bust.
beasley is a dissapointment at number 2 brooke lopez was the best selection with the exeption of rose
