    There has been alot of trade proposals out there and someone needs to be a mediator. Since I have thought of this thread, I guess I will be the final decision maker.

    Here is how this game will be played. I will put out a few calls saying that the first pick may be had for the right price. You guys are the GMs of other teams and your sole ojective is to get the best deal possible for your team. Remember you are not a Rockets fan, you are a GM. You need to find out your weaknesses and address them the best you can.

    For example, we all know how the owner of the Clippers is not going to pay for all of their young players, so you must find a way to improve your team without spending too much. Similar to the predicament Jerry Hunsicker is in with the Astros. You are probably not going to trade Brand because that is one of the positions that is not deep on your team. But you understand that you have plenty of picks and small forwards to begin some sort of negotiation.

    The negotiations begin with the first pick, Rice and KT. What do you offer?(Be realistic)

    Rockets trade;
    Yao Ming
    Glen Rice
    Terrence Morris
    Calvin Cato

    To Minnesota

    Minnesota trades;
    Kevin Garnett

    Why Garnett, because Minnesota is tire of him because they keep losing in first rounds of the playoffs.

    Rockets lineup;
    Garnett
    Griffin
    Taylor
    Mobley
    Francis

    EDC-(I mean Popovich)
    If I was CD or Rudy, this trade would of been done in a heartbeat. But I doubt you are serious with that offer. Tell me what you really want.

    I know you couldn't be serious. You must be trying to pull a quick one over me. Tell me what you really want. When something seems to good to be true, it probably is. What else do you want?

    Rockets trade #1 to clippers for odom and #8. With 8 we draft marcus/borchardt, and nachbar at 15. So we have Francis, Mobley, Odom, Griffen, and Marcus/Borchardt, and I think nachbar would be able to provide offense off the bench. :confused:

    THIS WEEK -- Hi CD this is Krause... you guys are some lucky SOB's over there... Kind of reminds me when you guys got hakeem and we picked up MJ, Really screwed you on that one... Hey I got a trade idea for you. How about we swap picks and I'll throw in Bagaric to sweeten the deal. That's what I'm talking about, the number two pick in the draft and Bagaric for YaoBaby... We know he's a project and probably won't even play in this country but we have such a big Asian community here in Chicago so we'll take that risk for you... Okay Yeah just get back to me...

    MID JUNE -- What you don't want Bagaric... Okay I'll make it Fizer... the guy is great and he can play three positions you're going to love him... And that's my final offer so don't try to hardball me...

    DRAFT DAY -- Okay I'll make it Curry and the second but you're going to have to throw in your 15th and KT

    MINUTES BEFORE DRAFT -- Okay just the number one pick for the number two pick and we'll swap Curry for KT...

    Come on please!!!

    Sounds good. I would like to see what else is out there before I pull the trigger. Could you sweeten the deal a bit? Perhaps also take care of the salary cap ramifications.

    Krause-
    I thought you were going to blow a fuse last year at the draft. I see you learned how to handle the stress a little better this year. As far as your first scenario. I wouldn't mind trading the picks but seeing you have some cap room, why don't you help me out with some of this dead weight on my team?

    Of course I'm serious. What I didn't tell you is that Duncan guaranteed me (as this fictional GM) that he won't be returning when his contract runs out after next season. Rice is only to make the salaries come anywhere near close. Do you still make that deal? Do you trust CD enough to be able to sign Duncan to a long-term, max contract?

    #1 and Glen Rice for Shawn Marion, Joe Johnson and #9 (Caron Butler or Curtis Borchardt).

    EDC-
    Will you allow me to negotiate with Duncan on an extension before we finalize the deal? Also, there will be some salary cap ramifications, how can we work that out?

    Mr. Coelangelo-

    I am still a little pissed off with the new zone rules you were so much in favor of. Absolutely ruined our isolation heavy offense. But other than that you seem to have a fair deal on the table. I am currently talking to a few other GMs in the league as you may have guessed. Could I get back with you in about a week?

    I don't know what the rules are.

    If we're playing "free and easy," then I would say discussions (ie: "would you resign with us, and if so what would it take?") are permissible, but no actual negotiations. According to REALGM, under their current contracts, the trade as proposed will work under the cap. Getting it to work after any extension is your problem.

    Pop-
    I really would not like to take that gamble. I would be willing to part with KT if you were to allow me a 3 day window to try to come to an agreement with Duncan.

    I'm Poppovic's evil twin.

    I have Duncan, not signed to an extension. But he sees the potential of being on the same team as the best backcourt in the league, so it's almost definite that he'll extend with you. But Robinson is retiring, and I need some sort of nucleus to go with Tony Parker. Maybe two future Superstars? But you won't give me Francis, Mobley or Griffin.

    But I see you have 2 picks and a highly tradeable commodity in Kenny Thomas. Maybe you can swing a deal with Milwaukee? KT and the #15 for #13?

    Then if you pick Ming with the #1, Amare Stoudamire with the #13, and send some veterans our way to play till the young ones develop, we may have a deal.

    So,

    Cato
    Rice
    Ming
    Stoudamire

    for

    Duncan

    The only reason I'm accepting these 2 big contracts, is because Rice's contract ends in 2 seasons, when my players will have developed into bonafide stars, and won't need him. Cato can continue to play the 4 OR 5, until both players develop to the point of overtaking him. What do you say?

    Where is Karl? Let's get him on the phone. Let's see what the Bucks are willing to do.

    The rest of you GMs are now being called by Rudy. Just checking in with you guys to make sure you are still interested.

    Hey this is Doc down in Orlando.

    How about your number one for Grant Hill and our No. 18 and No. 1 next year?

    We'll take Rice and Williams to make it work...

    Hello, this is the hornets. We don't have a home yet, but we'd like to swap some players. I offer Matt Bullard, Bryce Drew, Baron Davis, and David Wesley, all our pics for the #1 and STeve Francis.
