I love listening to JVG do games and he is full of originality but that is pretty common to use the term pure to describe a shooter, even if he was using it as his nick. It does fit though. Allen is the prototype of an NBA SG, imo. He's obviously not as good all around as Kobe but he is an ideal shooter.
I have to laugh at those who thought Parker was overrated because he played next to Duncan. Well Duncan's out today, and Parker gets 36 and 10 on 18-25 FG. And the Brooks/Parker comparisons can stop now.
I got that one right but the Spurs game wrong. Parker was incredible considering they played the night before. I want the Warriors to win but they played last night and Dallas was rested waiting for them. The game is close right now but I still expect Dallas to pull away in the 4th. The Jazz-Suns game should be a good battle. I see the Suns pulling it out though.
And there it is... the Mavs make a run. They're up 19 with 9 min left. I would have picked the Warriors if the Mavs had played the night before. The Spurs game was extremely physical. Even a running team like the Warriors were sure to be burned out.
I assume you're talking about Howard. He was moving forward and not straight up and down like the announcers were saying. Having said that, it was the last play and Howard's forward movement was subtle. I think Yao may have gotten a no call there too. I know few people will agree with that since they think Yao is the only big man ever to be poorly officiated.
I posted this in another thread but will say it here: Since complaining after the first Jazz game in Utah, the refs have let Yao get away with bumping a lot of shooters without calling a foul. It's very noticeable.
I've noticed several times recently where Yao banged on a player and didn't get called. I didn't notice the correlation with the complaining after the last Jazz game. Makes sense though. There really were some atrocious calls and non-calls in that particular game.
Yao and the refs have somewhat of an understanding these days; as long as he goes up and down and not into the shooter, he generally won't be called...generally. And I thought what Yao complained about was the flopping in that first Jazz game in Utah this season.
This is one of those repetitive comments that isn't annoying to hear because the Suns lack of D always seems to reach new levels. Kerr rushed in his attempt to change the direction of this team. They may have always been a notch below other elite teams because of this weakness but it was ridiculous to destroy the makeup of that team given the short window left in Nash's career. I have little doubt that had they kept the team together from last year, including D'Antoni, they would be in the thick of the playoff race right now if not better. If Kerr wanted to change things, he should have waited a couple more years. He destroyed this season for Nash and the Suns.
If Kerr was really serious about changing the identity of the Suns to a defensive oriented team, he should have inquired if Tom Thibodeau wanted to become a head coach. I blame the demise of the Suns alot on Sarver though, him and Kerr are joined at the hip and Sarver then decided to go cheap on the franchise.
I don't mean to bash Yao, but Shaq's poise and decision-making when he has the ball in the low post is at another level. After 7 years, Yao still gets nervous and makes a lot of poor decisions when he feels pressure. I understand the Jazz are playing a b2b but seeing how Shaq handles himself in the post against them is such a sharp contrast to what we typically see out of Yao. Shaq is in the twilight of his career and looks highly effective tonight. The Jazz' antics don't phase him at all.
