I know I am late getting into this conversation......but here goes! I agree that being Gay is not comparable to being hooked on drugs.....but why does the Gay community have to deal with unfair treatment? Just curious to what your reasoning behind that statement. Not trying to start a battle or anything.
Got ya! I fully agree. I work with many closet homosexuals in the Military.........and it drives me crazy hearing about the issues they face on a daily basis. My 2 cents about it......I dont understand what they feel, think, or know to be right in their heart and mind. So I will never judge. That obligation is beyond my pay grade.....so to speak. As long as people treat me the way I deserve to be treated......I am cool. I will welcome anyone to my house for some Beer's! As long as they are not pricks!
Ironically I am ambidextrous. At least when it comes to using a mouse, chopsticks and throwing a football.
Throwing some fresh meat... Some churches don't explicitly say that homosexuals will be condemned, but they will go along with the Bible which states that sodomy is morally wrong. There is a subtle distinction.... While, it really isn't the church or its people's prerogative to condemn anyone, the OT and NT does speak out against sodomy. I'm not sure how a homosexual is supposed to deal with the whole "look but not touch/express his love" angle. Since they can't marry, unless through a sham marriage, then everything is peachy keen with a fruitless, constant, and unending test of will. A gay fundamentalist Christian would seem to have a very harsh life. That isn't to say it's impossible to fend off and repress sexual desires without negative consequences, but not everyone is made to be a genuine Catholic priest. Yet it's like we're imposing (with grudging acceptance) that standard on homosexuals if they want to morally conform. Outright sexual repression has done more evil, harm, and misery across the world than collective good.
people still care this much about gays? what's wrong with this country.. people are people, do unto yourself what you will just don't infringe upon others.
So if it is genetic and against the norm it's automatically a genetic disorder? I guess I don't have to ask you what you think of left handed people then.
It absolutely would bother me if I had a college professor who was talking about his sex life in the classroom.
Jazz Fans need not apply. I am a Bulls fan first and foremost. I enjoyed watching MJ peeing all over Malone and Stockton 2 years in a row. Just thinking about that brings a small tear to my eye! I do have a thought to pose to people against the idea of homosexuality? What happens IF your own brother or sister one day......decides to bring their same sex partner to a family gathering in order to 'come out'? My cousin decided to do this at Thanksgiving last year and the response was sickening. Many people in my family cut ties right then and there. Just wondering some of the 'anti gays' take on that scenario.....

If gayness is the way to go for gay people then go ahead. That doesn't mean I personally approve gay marriage. Nothing against gay people just my personal thoughts. To each it's own.
Yes, it would if it was during a college course that I was paying for. I just have yet to encounter a teacher like that. My point is that no one is willing to call him on his in class inappropriate behavior because he is gay and no one wants to "discriminate" against him. But I guess I am in Boulder. It is a small introductory class that is 50 minutes long yet we spend AT LEAST 20 minutes a day discussing his private life.
This: really should imply that you don't have a problem with gay marriage. Honestly, what relevance does this story provide to thread? The only thing I can think of is that you think that there a higher percentage of gays that are idiots than straight people? There are idiots and douches of all shapes, sizes and orientations. I don't see the relevance of the fact that you know a gay person you don't like and who is treated differently to the question of whether homosexuals deserve equal rights and fair treatment.
This was the original post: I considered asking the question when I read this, but decided against it for whatever reason. I still wonder what the relevance is. I guess you're just giving an anecdote, but it seemed similar to the whole "I don't mind gay people as long as they don't shove it in my face" line of reasoning. That kind of comment comes from someone who means well but is still struggling to give acceptance and silence inner prejudices. It has no relevance to whether one is accepting of homosexuality and just serves to push stereotypes.
