Do you all think that we rely WAY too much on the 3 point shot to the point where if thats not falling, we have no idea what to do? I noticed last night that the game was eerily similar to like playing NBA2k9, where when we get behind or frustrated we start shooting prayer three pointers to get back in the game instead of feeding yao or driving or posting up. My question is, is this Adelmans fault that we shoot the three ball WAY too much, or is it just the frustration of the players trying to be heros
In Adelman's offense its difficult to pass up open shots, unless you see a player with a closer open shot. The only person who shouldnt be shooting 3s is Kyle Lowry, and he took 2 last night. The other guys are solid 3 point shooters, and our best one Barry was 0fer the night. I did like the play where Brooks got the pass at the 3 line but nobody was near him so he took a quick dribble inside and shot an 18 footer. It missed, but for Brooks was a higher percentage shot than the 3 ball.
i dont see the problem of shooting an open three. There's nothing we can do if the shot is not falling.
hahahha thats what i do too...when i am down i get frustrated and start shooting 3s which cost me the game...maybe i should stop doing that and start shooting 2s instead
i thought when artest made one i was like ok ill live with that..then when he started shooting more i said lets think...artest shooting.. bad... shooting 3's bad...which = ARTEST SCREWED UP
I get frustrated watching Artest or anyone put up 3s not in the flow of the offense. I'm sure no one misses T-Mac walking up and shooting the 30 foot bomb. Haha. But anyway, if we're gonna win in the playoffs, we will rely on the 3 for a lot of our points. We're obviously a Yao-centric team when he's on the floor and he demands a ton of attention, leaving the open 3 point shot.
The open 3 is part of our offense, and after last night's game, i actually believe players should've taken more of them towards the end of the game. We always want our players to take it to the basket, however last night wafer and lowry forced it to the rim way too much. The ref's were letting alot of contact go last night so i actually thought we should've taken the jumper more last night.
Don't worry, when we get Joe Johnson this won't be a problem...he's not going to miss 3-4 open threes in a row like all of these other guys.
we relied much more on the 3 pointer in the JVG era. it's just a consequence of playing with a 7'6 300 pound player who takes up half the lane. it's no mystery why Artest has taken many more 3's this year with the Rockets than any other time in his career. With Adelman we're relying less on the 3 pointer than in previous years. Live by the 3, die by the 3.
Our offense is almost like Orlando. Big center in the middle that demands double and triple teams, so when the ball is kicked out, the three ball is there. Orlando lives and dies by the three - if the three isn't falling, its almost a loss for them.
The 3 pointer has totally ruined the NBA and is a shot that gives glory to lazy players and unimaginative teams. So which category does the rockets fall under.......the latter in most cases.
If your offense gives you a wide open 3, take it, even if your name is Kyle Lowry (he's made some). If it's contested, keep moving the ball or do a pump fake to draw the defender, step in, and shoot a 2. What we're doing now is having 1 on 1's and jacking up 3's without even moving the ball. That cannot happen.
