http://i.gizmodo.com/5182772/canon-eos-rebel-t1i-first-hands-on-50ds-sensor-1080p-vids-899- It looks like a 50D and 5D Mark II hybrid with an incredible price. I'm looking forward to this.
Very nice. I'm no photography guru, but my 400D/XTi seems archaic already... Here's a preview from dpreview.com : http://www.dpreview.com/news/0903/09032504canoneos500d.asp
It's too bad audio is an afterthought on these DSLR HD cameras. There should be an option for external audio. The audio these cams produce is horrible. That said, I'd trade my 20D in for one any day. The video from these cameras really looks great with the good lenses. This is a video produced from the 5D MarkII. http://www.vincentlaforet.com/
ya it's basically identical to the 50D with HD video recording taken from the 5D at only 100 bucks more than the XSi. so this pretty much kills the Xsi..but what about the 50D? why would someone get that over the T1i? i bought the xsi about 6 months ago but i dont feel the need to buy this one. i can live without the hd recording. the 15.1 mp is just a marketing spec. even the 12.1 on the xti is a lil big. i dont even shoot at the highest setting.
i really don't need or want video on my dslr but i would like to be able to input metadata/tags etc. via voice command. that we be hella convenient.
Hmmm I'm glad I held out on getting the XSI and will not look into purchasing this in May. I take plenty of photos but sometimes I need video shots of my kids. This is a great idea and look forward to the quality of photos it will produce.. Currently I have the old XT and to the T1i hopefully will help me take better indoor photos. Read something how the new digic4 proc. has better shots in low light?
My XTi is trash now!!! Nah, luckily a lot of what makes photographs great are the photographer and the glass, so unless I plan on going super-pro sometime, my stuff will be sufficient.
exactly. unless u need a certain feature from a more expensive camera..there's no point of investing tons on money on just the body. it would be way more useful to have a variety of lenses. i have the xsi.. and i need to get some faster lenses. i was thinking about getting a 50mm/f1.4 for portrait purposes / low light.
Almost twice as fast. There are also a whole host of other things that the 50D has that the new T1i does not, but most of these items are geared towards the professional. Don't get me wrong, the new Ti1 is a great bargain, but it is still a consumer camera. The 50D can be (and is) used by many pros, and it bridges the gap between the consumer cameras and the VERY expensive high end pro cameras.
