    Actually, that is EXACTLY why.

    Try to imagine a worst case scenario ...which would be the total collapse of the US government (and would invariably take many other countries down with it).

    Here's a couple cliche's that apply:
    If it ain't broke ...don't fix it
    Keep it simple, stupid.

    Often the best solutions to hard problems are the simple ones.

    Complex solutions typically die from spectacular and catastrphic failures. Just ask Enron or mortgage lenders and their insurers.

    Everybody understands gold. More is good.
