disappointing loss all around, nobody played particularly well, AB probably had the best game. with that said I just have to keep beating the horse and I know yao's stats aren't awful but the guy gets his shots withing 8 feet of the basket and goes 6-16? They weren't even calling fouls against him. He missed at least 3 shots within a foot of the basket and had 2 rebounds just go right through his hands after he had managed to get good position. I know nobody is perfect but why do we pretend he is the leader of our team? He is not, will not, and cannot be the #1 guy because he can't/won't demand the ball and he allows himself to get shut down by people he shouldn't be. thats all the hate for now.. oh and quote of the night was definitely charles saying we were not a challenge to the top 4 teams in the west...really charles...at the time we were number 2 in the west but we aren't a challenge??? whatever
Whenever Artest shows signs that he's going to put up atrocious numbers, not passing the ball to Brooks or Wafer on the fastbreak when he has 2 defenders on him (seeing that really got me ticked), etc... I think Von Wafer should cut into Ron's minutes and play more than just 12 a game. At least 20. Only, and ONLY if Artest shows signs of stubbornness and a potential bad game.
yea ron's shot wasn't going in so much tonight but he did have a very good game otherwise both on d and with his assists.
We just have to avoid this team in the playoffs. Its just a terrible match up for us. Battier and Brooks play really well and we still lost by double digits. Rox please avoid this team at least in the 1st round.
Wafer was overly agressive in the second half and took some awful shots that led to Jazz fast breaks. He and Lowry tried to score quickly and draw fouls, but they weren't getting the calls or the baskets. But they kept at it, and put the team in a hole and took other players out of rhythm. Wafer also had some problems guarding Korver. Artest was getting beat by Brewer badly in the third quarter. Brewer was too quick and Artest seemed a step slow all game in both offense and defense. I'd like to see how Artest handles Brewer the next time around, though. So basically, both our shooting guards played subpar games.
Is this guy serious? Hey, I think we lost this game (or maybe I am wrong). He shot 5/22 and he said they are ready. Great matchup with Utah? If you wanna go fishing soon, sure! I don't understand Ron at all. I can even call him an idiot. He really thinks he owns the world.
Artest went ack to his horrible shot selection. Wafer was way to aggresive driving in and he kept getting swatted. I cant believe Barry missed wide open 3's. Lowry just didnt have it. We missed so many layups its not even funny. I think the Rockets just beat themselves......... Missed layups, horrible shooting= Loss
We did not out rebound the Jazz enough to make any difference. Houston: 52 + 7 team rebs = 59 Utah: 42+ 14 team rebs = 56 Carry on.
brewer is an x-factor for the jazz and he came up big last night, he got the better of ron in the crucial 3rd quarter. ron also made some terrible decisions on offense and is nowhere near the facilitator that t-mac was while he takes just as many bad/difficult shots. overall though, he didn't have a terrible game, not his fault we lost. yao had a poor game (as usual vs. utah) but could have still made more of an impact by DEMANDING THE DAMN BALL. scola seemed to get a little lost in the shuffle, not his best game ever. sean gave us some production and we outrebounded them, but our bench gave us nothing. wafer got called for a charge, which was questionable, then hesitated the next possession and got stuffed by korver, damn! he got jizzed on. the only chance we had last night was squandered when adelman left lowry in the game too long. he wasn't good last night while aaron was burning them pretty good. i've been thinking for a long time now that the only chance we have to do really well in the postseason is for brooks too really come into his own. he needs to learn how and when to take over a game. last night was the time, alas he's still not there yet, he'll get there, just don't know if it will be this year. don't know if it's the he or the coaches that cause him to hold back. i guess i should give the jazz credit but i can't, i am overwhelmed with hate. they closed out well against us and we just couldn't match their aggression and desire down the stretch. i really don't know if we can beat them in a series. outside the lakers, they are obviously our worst playoff scenario.
I am late to the party. Here is my blame list: 1. Ron Artest - His shot selection is beyond terrible. If he kept driving, and got blocked, it would be somewhat forgivable. But his bad quick 3s were really hurting any momentum we had. His D was more than shaky last night, for he gambled way too much. to emphasize Ron's bad performance, I will start the rest of the list from NO. 5. 5. Our coach Rick - He couldn't even control his bench players, how pathetic is that? I don't know what he's doing in games? I mean he might be a great coach in practice, but during games, if he lets his players freelance at will, why does he need to be in the games, at all? 6. Our bench - It's ok to miss shots. But it's not ok that guys like Wafer and Lowry went totally uncontrolled and acted like super heroes. They literally killed our momentum multiple times during those crazy 1 on 3 "fastbreaks". 7. AB - He made his shots, but once again, he's a point guard, he has to get his teammates involved. Like Doug said, it's so important to have a 4 play at the opposite side of Yao Ming. While Yao getting all the attentions, he really should have got Scola more shots. 8. Yao - I am pleased with his defensive effort and output. Again, it's ok to miss shots, and some of them were obviously due to fatigue. But he's got to make decision quicker, instead of waiting for double teams. It's ok to shoot the turnaround, and it's ok to miss. I think he definitely needs to work on his mid-range jumper in the offseason to make his own and his teammates' lives easier. As bad as we played last night, it was a totally winnable game. Lessons were plenty, but whether our players can learn from it is another story.
I think Scola offense was non-existing in this game which really hurt us also. He needs to be the 2nd or 3rd option for the rockets now.
well the real upside is that this was a game we were supposed to lose. they are great at home and have the best record in the western conference since the all-star break. still hurts though.
The good thing is Yao is making adjustment agianst the Jazz.I noticed he cut down his dribblings when he recieved the ball. Most og the time he just turn around and shoot,I think this is why he only got one TO in this game.Obviously the result wasn't very good, since he only shot 6-16 and we lost the game. But i think this is a good start,it will save Yao a lot of enengy for defense and allow less fast-break oppotunities for Utah.Yao just needs to shoot better next time.
I agree with the grades except for: AB: should get better than a D. He did shoot the ball well, scored 20 pts and got 4 assists. If he was any better in decision making and looking for teammates, he would have gotten an A, A-. At it was, he should at least get a B or B-. Hayes: How did u give him a B? He did not do much. The dude could only get 11 minutes on the floor with us not having Landry and not playing Deke! He had 2 TO in 11 minutes (compared to let's say Battier's 2 in 38 mins, like somebody'd liked to say, it's the small sample size, if he's played more. Yes, if he'd played 38 mins, he probably had 6, 7 TOs ). He played decent defense but not that great. When he was on Boozer, we had to double him and I think Boozer also scored on him on a night when he played subpar. Hayes should not get more than a C, C-.
I meant to add that Hayes did get 4 rebs but 3 of those are offensive rebs in the same sequence and he scored his only points. Heck, if he only played those 24 seconds, I am happy to give him a B.
why didn't you call him out after the Cavs game, the bobcats game, the pistones game? this forum and this rox team are both plagued by knee jerk reaction. one loss, your all-star player is no leader material. then name one? Artest who shot a 5-22 and played totally clueless and selfish, more convincing? rafer, who was traded? adelman, who always reacts slower than Yao's motion style? mental over-reaction and panicking is everywhere. for fans, you are just making fools of yourself. but even the rox players are also playing this way. always claiming trying to make games around Yao, first 3 shot missed, they stopped passing to him and the coach just did nothing about that. even Yao himself played this way. after missing some shots that is statistically acceptable, he became indecisive, hesitate to go, playing slower. this absurd, childish, mentally weak way of going around things plagued the whole rox culture. no consistency, no principles, no decipline, just let your emotion and knee-jerk take you whereever you could be. THIS alone makes rox an everlasting biatch for the thug mentality like Jazz. when could rox and rox fans learn to be cool as Spurs and their fans? Duncan played horrible for at least 7 games in a row this season, any spurs fan denouncing him? well Duncan had several rings already, then consdier Dirk, international too, labeled "soft" too, underachiving, much less consistent than Yao this season, did they mavs fans reject him as leader? did them players go away from him? this is really pathetic. stay cool, Rox is an overachiving team now. I know Yao is a person who would hardly opt out where he played 7 years if not pushed to some ridiculous extent.but I also have a feeling the rox dealing and coaching and culture ARE pushing him. maybe rox and Yao don't deserve each other. if I was him I can't stop thinking find my way to Lebron or Wade in 2010, since no matter what happened couldn't be worse than in Rox.
