You might want to take your own advise brother. Matthew 7:1-6 1"Do not judge, or you too will be judged. 2For in the same way you judge others, you will be judged, and with the measure you use, it will be measured to you. 3"Why do you look at the speck of sawdust in your brother's eye and pay no attention to the plank in your own eye? 4How can you say to your brother, 'Let me take the speck out of your eye,' when all the time there is a plank in your own eye? 5You hypocrite, first take the plank out of your own eye, and then you will see clearly to remove the speck from your brother's eye. 6"Do not give dogs what is sacred; do not throw your pearls to pigs. If you do, they may trample them under their feet, and then turn and tear you to pieces. Uh? Can you explain this passage in the Bible and how it relates to the BS you have spit about Gays? Anything ring a bell?
I believe the locals use the phrase, "Don't mud wrestle a pig. You only get dirty and the pig likes it."
Considering that you state "We do know for a fact that genetics plays a significant role in determining homosexuality" I think it contradicts that statement quite completely.
Since we're posting pictures of animals and you mentioned pigs... Spoiler Spoiler Spoiler Damn, I love pigs.
Yes it is a fact that genetics plays a role. Prevalence of male homosexuality amongst those with homosexual identical twins (i.e. same genes) = 50%. Prevalence of male homosexuality in the general population = >10%. Other studies with twins separated at birth corroborate the theory. "Facts are simple and facts are straight."
I have absolutely no problem with gay people. In fact, some of our closest family friends are gay. However, I cannot stand it when they are unnecessarily flamboyant. In college, I have a professor who teaches a small writing class who qualifies under this. He is to the point that he is totally inappropriate in class and only gets away with it because no one wants to discriminate against him. Think Mr. Garrison in South Park when he is attempting to be fired for being gay. I have no problem with this guy being gay, but I do have a problem with him constantly talking about sex and his personal life in the classroom.
Umm, so how exactly did you choose the picture for the fish? 'Cause that's a pretty McClurable fish. Untrue, apparently. Though I agree with you that marriage should not be connected to state-sanctioned benefits, just to throw it out there, this statement appears to be false. "What Do Women Want?" I can't tell if that photograph is one man/one woman, or two women, but it's nice. This link, describing research into stimulation by both sexes, in clinical terms, might be NSFW: Spoiler There are possible weaknesses with the methodology of comparing physical arousal across the sexes, but an interesting sidenote, if nothing else. Why are so many worried about what gay men and women do in the privacy of their bedrooms? Focus, people: Women like watching p*rnography! Pitchforks and torches, all around!
Interesting study. I'm wondering how much they accounted for cultural factors and if the differences between what the women were saying and their physiological reactions was due to how the genders have been raised to view p*rnography.
I haven't had the chance to read this whole thread other than a few pages but I think I get the gist of it. For all of those who think that homosexuality is a choice and homosexuals can just choose to be heterosexual consider that even in this day in age many homosexuals still suffer from ridicule and scorn especially from their own families. If it was such a choice why would people choose to that?
To clarify: Women like watching p*rnography! Of bonobos going at it! How dare you let this stand, culture warriors? The article itself is a good read, but as the song says, the plethysmograph don't lie. Which is why I'm special ordering one for this weekend. We'll see if she really likes watching the Rockets games with me as much as she claims to.
I'm a Christian as well, sort of(I'm Baptist). But I think we can agree that faith based arguments are not always as profound as they could be when you consider how easy it is to violate a law of this man-made book. Have you never ate shrimp? If you have you better repent. I could go on and on with the numerous sophmoric restrictions of this book called the Bible. But I believe the faith part of being Christian revolves around forgiveness, promoting his message and loving thy neighbor and accepting who your neighbor loves.
It is more complex than that in my opinion. The sexual behavior begins with a choice. Sometimes early in life. And because of the complex developments homosexuals cannot just choose to be heterosexual. People are born with certain attractions, desires, and affections. It is common for children to experiment at early ages with sexuality. There are many complex factors in how choices are made often influenced by powerful motivators such as rejection, low self image, desires for acceptance, undisciplined passions, insecurities, fears, pride... there are an array of complex psychological factors in choices. IMHO Once someone engages in any sexual activity there is an awakening of arousal, pleasure, and physical hormonal and chemical balances. When a choice becomes a habit it can be very difficult to differentiate what is inate and what is learned. If you find a man attractive, yet you do not have a desire to involve yourself sexually you are making a choice by another complex set of motivators. However if you were to give in to a desire, a curiosity, or passion you would then begin a process of involving your emotions, character, will, and physical stimulus which could lead to a pattern of future choices. Once a pattern of future choices are made they can actually affect mental reason, emotional function, and physical desires. At this point you are emotionally and probably physically locked in to the behavior you have established. It is very difficult to change something that is dominating your personal will power. It can be a torment to try to change and worth suffering ridicule or secrecy to avoid such. The human affections, desires and intrinsic values are powerful motivators. Insecurity and personal character alone play a large role as motivators. There are many other powerful motivators and influencers for choices made. I am attracted to other women besides my wife. It is important to me that my choices concerning those strong attractions are made wisely. I don't think choices are easy to analyze because personal factors in choices can be very very complex. Sexual habits are very strongly formed and not easily changed.
I'm trying to think of the instances in which I'd need my Uzis always tethered three inches away from my pecs, away from maximal firing range; there are none. Is Chuck Norris a gay leatherman? Which leads me to my next question: Do women like watching films of Chuck-Norris-in-bondage-leathers on Chuck-Norris-in-bondage-leathers action? I think we all know that answer now.
