Chinese America on Bissonet outside the Beltway is great authentic chinese food. We have Chinese neighbors who take us to places we would never find on our own. Their goal is cheap and authentic. They have also taken up to House of Bowls.

You really should try something in the Bellaire/Gessner area at the very least. Lai Lai's is always good also.

    Yuan Ten, on Bellaire!!!

Great authentic Chinese food, and the lunch specials are crazy, and they apply to weekends too, 3.95-4.95 for a full serving, rice and soup.

Don't hate, they're the number one Chinese restaurant in sales.

For serious, Panda Express is soo good. They have a mall style buffet where you can pick what you want. Don't need to wait, just pick what you want and start chowing down.

I like Pei Wei a lot, the Thai Coconut Curry chicken w FR is just excellent, as is most everything they have. Best Hot & Sour soup I have had.

On a side note, I don't think I have ever had Dim Sum. Can someone give me the lowdown on it? What is it exactly? Thanks

I always see the one you guys are talking about, but we went to one on a high school field trip for Chinese class a few years ago. It was called Fung's kitchen and the teacher kept telling us how authentic it was. Maybe thats why I never cared for it

but anyway, real Chinese food is some of the absolute worst I have had throughout the world

Dim Sum is basically the equivalent to Tapas. Carts of food are pushed around the resteraunt and you just tell them what you want off the cart. The most standard dishes usually come in the form similar to dumplings or meatballs...each dish usually has 4 pieces. The majority of the food are steamed.

Its a good experience to try at least once and since each dish is only $2-$3 each...you can try a bunch of different things and figure out what you like.

Kim Son, Ocean Palace, and Fungs Kitchen are good places to go. Fungs doesn't have carts so you order off the menu so it would prob be very difficult to order for you.
