I read an interview in a sci-fi mag; maybe it was Lucas, maybe it was one of his yes-men working on the films with him. The question was posed about C-3PO not recognizing his "home planet," and the answer was basically, "Yeah, the devil is in the details."

If their memories are erased, it'll have to be before they serve under Captain Antilles.

Another thing that bothered me about C3PO was that, throughout most of all the Star Wars films, he is about as sure-footed and balanced as Manute Bol doing a log roll. But then in the one scene in the droid factory, he falls off that one platform, and twists around in the air and catches himself. It all just seemed very un-C3P0 like.

I've got it! Leia did not anything other than the message to Obi-Won into R2. I'm thinking that as with all technology, fingerprints of data are left pretty much no matter what you do to get rid of it. OK, if I remember correctly, also in ep3, 3PO and Luke are talking and 3PO mentions something about a battle and Luke gets all excited and questions 3PO about being in battles. Doesn't 3PO respond by saying something like he's been in many battles or at least he thinks he has, as if he remembers but he's not sure? The droids must have their memories erased at some point.

well, he's older in SW... :)

yeah, the 3PO stuff played... stiff, but, man, i really enjoyed having him and R2 back together; i thought that was one of TPM's biggest missteps -- turning sidekick duties over to jar jar, not because jar jar blew whales (he did), but because i really missed the droids. lucas obviously learned his lesson.

The thing that I don't understand is everyone saying...Yes, it is cheesy, but it is Star Wars.

Then they say we should lower our expectations....I don't get it.

Why should I not expect a GREAT movie? With a budget that Lucas has, you would think that he could come up with a CLASSIC movie, instead, he settles for shallow story, even worse dialogue, and card board actors.

Of course I will see it, but I can not believe how forgiving people are simply because it is Star Wars.

If this is not a great example of Style over substance, then I don't know what is.

Star Wars is an average movie at best.

I still think the romance developed in Empire Strikes Back between leia and Han and the darker nature altogether lent more to luke being further towards to the dark side then anakin is now..basically two movies into anakins life..

lucas will have major holes to fill with the next...and after seeing these past two episode I and II i am growing increasingly skeptical and think I may just hold on to my loving memories of the ones of old..the trilogy or whatever the heck you want to call it..

I, for one, am not saying you should 'lower' your expectations. My point is simple. The awkward dialogue and acting was very present in the first three Star Wars films as well as these new ones. So I'm not understanding why you are so surprised its around now...

I think Harrison Ford, Alec Guinness, Carrie Fisher, and Hamill act circles around this crew. They easily had more chemistry. Obi Wan looked more like Jesus Christ than a Jedi in these films and he's not believable at all IMHO. Plus Chewbacca, R2, and C3 were extremely entertaining secondary characters in the other films. In these last two films the secondary characters have sucked royally. I was embarrassed for Lucas when C3 dropped those bombed out lines about what a drag and sitting beside myself. That was pathetic.

Aside from some of the mistakes that have been mentioned already I was really annoyed that Lucas didn't choose to show Annakin slaughtering the people holding his mother. That was an excellent opportunity to insert a darker element to the character and foreshadow his turning. A real chump move pandering to a PG rating. It's all about the money I guess, screw telling a good story.

Also, is Palpatine the Emperor or what?

Re: C3PO and R2-D2 memory debate.

Apparently they do get their memories errased sometime during the clone wars (possibly towards the end of Ep3), and end up working on the ship where Princess Leia is in Ep4.
However, in the Cloud City when Han is frozen in carbonite, and Chewy goes 'ape' and pulls out his gun, some stormtroopers go to shoot him. But Vader stops them from shooting....possibly because Chewy has C3PO on his back....??

Oh, and the most cheesiest line in the whole damn Star Wars Saga is when R2-D2 says, "Beep beep beep, whistle, beep."

I agree with this 100%. When Annakin emerged from that tent full of fury, I braced myself for the horror I was about to see. Then they faded out. It was a real chance to give the plot a dramatic, disturbing, and dark element that it needed. I mean, Darth Vader is nothing less then a stone cold killer -- are we not going to see that in Episode III. Missed out on an opportunity for a very powerful scene here, IMO.

Well, it's the same actor. But so are Banky Edwards and Brodie Bruce. So maybe not.

I take it for what its worth. Its an ok movie.

But after seeing how nice Lord of the Rings was and how cool Spiderman is now, this movies isn't as good as either one of those and you have to expect that it HAS to be because of Lucas and because its a Star Wars movie.

Personally, it didn't live up to the hype. Lord of the Rings had much less fanfare and had: a) better imagination b) a better story and c) just as good special effects. It just all seemed fake to me. The Empire Strikes Back runs circles around this movie. Not even close.

On a scale of 1-10, I give it a 6.5. Better than Menace (which was the most overhyped/worse movie in the last 10 years). But saying its better than Menace is like saying very little.

i did not like this movie at all. i thought it was outdated and boring. there were cheesy as hell scenes. the only good part is that me and a group of friends yelled 'KICK HIS ASS, YODA' at that one part at the end really loud and everybody else is like 'shut the hell up' it was hilarious.

anyway, good parts are that pimp yoda and natalie portman. other than that, the movie was completely boring. if this wasnt a star wars movie i bet you any money all the people who said it was awesome would say that it sucked because that movie blew.

I didn't love the movie, but it had its moments, Yoda fighting was obviously the coolest thing. I didn't like how Anakin was portrayed so evil. It made Hayden Christensen look like a moron and a very poor actor. Gotta love Natalie Portman and that white outfit. Wanna laugh? watch the movie and imagine Samuel L Jackson saying "Mutha****a!" after every sentence he says. :)

Hopefully Episode Three wil tie everything together perfectly.

Anyone heard of any plans to make episode 7?

I saw it again today. and it was even cheesier. Man Lucas sure can't write for ****. The scenes seemed so choppy. Like a whole bunch of action and laser shots and it cuts to Yoda, "Very good Commander", pause, and cuts back to the laser action. Shoddy directing.

Episode 7 could be done. There were a number of good star wars novels written, or a new story could be thought up.

jello77 says that the movie is considered to be good only because it's Star Wars. I completely disagree. There are a lot of people out there who won't be happy about it no matter what they see because it's Star Wars.

There were a few cheesy scenes, but it wasn't as bad as most make it. Obi-Wan had a lot of funny lines that weren't over the top. Jango vs Obi-Wan was also nice. I also liked the relationship between Obi-Wan and Anakin. Anakin's slaughter of the sandpeople was nice. A little more could've been seen, but at least some was shown.

Problem with some of you people who bad mouth the movie he now owns 7 bucks of your money so why complain.
Movie was Excellent if you are a "True" Starwars fan I think he gave the fans what they wanted....Explanations.

We all found out how storm troopers were made and why.
We all found out why Bobba Fett had this hatred for Jedi.
We all found out why Yoda is a true jedi master.
I dunno if anyone recognized this but the orb shape laser cannons with clones controlling them the laser coming out of this orb resembled that of the Death Star laser.
Was it not historical to see R2 and C3 have there first b**** fest?
Or how about the interesting curvature of Dooku's Light saber handle.
George Lucas made this film to please the fans and answer alot of questions.
People must understand if it was up to George Lucas and not the MPAA ratings people his movies would be very graphic and very long.
The splitting of the bodies in this movie if anyone noticed no blood splatter was not because of the saber carterizing(misspell perhaps) the body parts but because of the near close R rating this movie almost became.
Because originally this series was meant for kids he never knew when he made Star Wars it would grow like it has.

Episode 3 is gonna be a greater task than any of the rest because he now has to answer yet more questions. for instance:
Does he bring Bobba Fett back as Teen to avenge his fathers death and kill Windu?
I think everyone now would like to see Yoda fight more and the slow progression of Annakin to the Dark Side.
Does he bring back Jinn as a spirit?
Or the ever popular and marketable Darth maul we all grew to love.
Do I think these love scenes were rushed? of course, it should have been a drawn out more process, but getting secretly married has progressed the way Lucas wanted it.

Quite Honestly I think episode 3 should be atleast 3-4 hrs.
Now if he decides to redo parts 4,5,6 would we pay to see them? OF COURSE! Why you ask? because it is all about curiosity.

Just hope like hell a theatre close to you has this new digital projector because Lucas has vowed not to release Episode 3 to theatres who don't.
