He's much more useful as a scoring center. But he was completely shutdown in the post this game, glad they found an alternate way to utilize Yao on offense. See if Yao can also pass like that from the high post, he becomes multi-dimensional on offense...other teams will have to worry about his passing or 15-footer shot if they front him in the post. And if they don't front him , they have to worry about his scoring in the post. See how it works?
Yao's passing > Aaron Brook's passing I'm not exaggerating or making a joke. Serious as terrorist threats.
Brooks/Yao pick and roll should be our go to play in crunch time if Yao is fronted. Brooks has the speed to get to the rim and if he's doubled then Yao is wide open for a jump shot or a pass to a cutting player, like Scola. Of course Yao in the post is still our first option, but good teams take that away from us at the end of games.
nah, it's one thing to naturally have the vision and another to just notice certain trends. I think Yao noticed Scola was cutting a lot to the rim for boards and he was open, or maybe scola told him to look for him.
It took about two years, but Yao finally learned how to pass out of the high post. As it bonus, it helps us beat the fronting problem.
Somewhere in San Antonio right now, Rick Adelman is watching the video of Yao passing from the high post and pulling a Tracy McGrady.
Why are you excusing this opinion or should I say fact? AB doesn't know how to pass. Who can make a counter point to that?
