Rafer still shoots way too much for his ability. He should honestly be more like Battier. Just stand there and hit your open 3s. But if you take a look, he shoots quite a bit on that Orlando team. That's NEVER a good thing.
I'll give you the handling skills, but his passing skills are average at best. He swings it side to side but I don't see him setting anyone up consistently. I think Lowry's passing skills are head and shoulder above Rafers.
You do know there's a reason why teams leave Rafer Alston an open 3 right? Anyways, Rafer Alston is a streaky shooter however it does some like he is shooting it more efficiently as an Orlando Magic. I was a fan of Rafer's toughness and PG IQ. I was not a fan of his shot selection and some of the decisions he made especially in the fast break where he would pull up for a 3 and miss horribly. I don't miss him with Kyle Lowry replacing him. Lowry is awesome.
Well looking at his stats, Rafer Alston has been shooting % as an Orlando Magic http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/teams/stats?team=orl 26% from 3 land.
i highly doubt that. Alston has a big ego. I think he doesn't see himself as a backup judging from his big mouth and would probably play like poop coming off the bench
I think when the new talent arrived (Scolandry, Artest) people were expecting Alston to dial it back down and limit his shot attempts, but he still managed to take the 3rd most shots in the team. In Orlando its no different-Alston is still taking the 3rd most shots in that team, despite having Rashard, Hedo and Courtney Lee around him, all of whom are much better shooters than him. Dude thinks he's much better than he really is.
You beat me to it. A wide-open 3-pointer with 13 seconds left in the game. Looked like the same exact form he had as a Rocket.
