did the same thing in Houston, then would go on a good-ol 25% shooting streak for the next few weeks

Are you serious? He did the exact same thing in Houston. He's streaky.

My thought is a question: Why start such a dumb thread? Rafer is Rafer and did the same thing here.

This happened in Houston, nothing surprising.

He's one of the most streaky shooting PG's in the NBA, probably the most streaky.

He maybe streaky, but he always played hard as a rocket..

Brooks, on the other hand, has been shooting under the expectation lately..

But it does not matter now, Alston was gone because he did not fit with the new team-philosophy and he also ran into trouble with Ron Ron couple times on the court..

I am still rooting for him. A good guy and a solid player. Wish him good luck and land a big fat contract next year :D

No kidding! So he's on a streak. So what? That's Rafer's M.O. and unlikely to change.

well, i'm not judging just by the box score.

I watched a bit of this game and his release looks a lot smoother now.

    Smooth?

When Tracy makes his shots, it looks smooth.
When Wafer makes his shots, it looks smooth.
When Mutombo makes his shots, it looks smooth.
When Hayes makes his shots, it looks smooths.

    Your point?

the fact that its only been 'His last couple games' and you still had to use a disclaimer 'except for the last one' tells you all you need to know about rafer and his ability to shoot well

Seriously (and not to pile on you), Rafer's shooting has been all over the place his entire career. The bottom line is he's a very poor shooter who has occasional good games and hot streaks. Based on the last 10 seasons, I confidently predict his shot will desert him just like it always has.

I've watched a number of games and highlights of Alston since he was traded to Orlando.

He has EXACTLY the same shooting technique as he did when he was with the Rockets. NOTHING has changed.

He still swings the ball from right to left across his body and back to the right as he releases the ball.

Alston was never a good shooter (relative to other NBA guards) and never will be.

You really think a 9 year NBA (and more years D-League, streetball) can suddenly develop a consistent shooter.

Rafer is a career shy of 40% shooter with 35% from downtown. Really he shoots just "well" enough for him to play the point. No one can deny Rafer's insane ball handling skills and above average passing skills.

Rafer is a C- starting point guard and b+ backup. That is just what he is. Next year when nelson is healthy I think he will fit nicely into the role of backup eastern conference point guard. The back up points guards in the east suck he should be able to out class the likes of them for at least another 2 years.
