I would say that it will have a lot to do with when and how Ginobili comes back from his ankle injury. Spurs have lost a lot of games for 1 or 2 points lately, and Parker has failed to close many games as well, plus, their record is better with Ginobili than with Parker or Duncan. If he can be back this friday as it was said last week, i see the Spurs closing the 2nd seed within the next 6 games.
I wouldn't just say that yet because of our schedule. We have a very tough April schedule to play, I don't know how we will fare against those teams. I know this team is really playing well right now, but I am not 100% sure we will have the 2nd seed just yet, or even if we do, be able to keep it.
wow i didn't realize this thread was made back in Januaray, at first I was reading all these negative comments and was like wtf...we been playing great...and worst pg...(thought they meant brookes since I thought this was a new thread)..lol.....I think the rockets have a very good chance of making it past the first round...i think we can even get to the western conference finals if we play with heart. I believe we can beat any of the teams below us right now in the seeding, we also can beat San Antonio although it would be very tough. The only team we can't beat is LA and it's because of number 24 obviously.
I just went over the remaining schedule again !! BRUTAL !!!!!!! Look at SA and NO's remaining schedule and you will see the Clippers and the Thunder a whole lot.............
Looking over this thread, I see some words that might need to be eaten. Particularly a comment about "if by fluke we make the playoffs", and another about "the spurs and hornets are really shaking in their boots."
I wouldn't say we are out of the woods yet. We can make the number two seed but one bad run and we could wind up at number 8 as well.
isn't being #2 just as good as being #3 (to avoid the lakers until wcf)? the div. champ thing is really not that meaningful. and it's not like whoever wins on sunday wins the division.
We get home court against who ever wins in the 3 vs 6 matchup. So no, being 2nd is a very good thing. The WCF is vulnerable though, because clearly the Lakers will have home court unless they get an upset.
If things stay the way they are, and we wrap up #3 and You-know-who gets #6, then it be Rockets-Jazz once again in the 1st round. I like our chances this time.
Personally, I'd be much happier with the Jazz getting a 5th or 8th seed and staying the hell away from us....no matter how sweet it would be beating them.
Between 3 and 2, 2 is always better. If not for the simple reason that we will be the division champs for the first time in nearly a decade. Plus, it gives us the best shot at going deep in the playoffs. I don't know why people want to face Utah. Sure, I'd give us the edge over them, but they would be our worst matchup other than the Spurs and Lakers. Their two best players would be guarded by our two worst defenders. Perhaps we can hope that Utah beats the Spurs and we get them in the 2nd round and we can get our revenge that way. But I'm not going to take the harder road just to get back at the Jazz. If we want to do that, we might as well tank to the 8th seed and play the Lakers in the first round and if we win we'll be the 2nd team in NBA history to win the 1-8 matchup from the 8th seed (in a 7 game series).
not going to make the top 3 eh? right now we ARE number 3 and if we beat the spurs in SA 2morrow we will be in 2nd seed WHAT NOW
