What a total ass. I listened the first 10 minutes on my way to work an noticed he didn't say anything. I knew he wouldn't say anything nice about Barkley so I figured he was showing a little class by not bringing anything up at all. Guess not. Reasons why Charles did not do the interview: 1. Rome is a d******d. 2. Charles is astute enough to recognize a d******d when confronted with one. 3. If Charles is on Rome's show, Rome doesn't get the last word in. 4. Charles would not buy into Rome's pre agreement that everyone must agree to before being interviewed on his show. (i.e. Make Jim Rome look and sound like he really knows something.) 5. Winners don't like to associate with losers, especially self-centered superficial losers with their own show. 6. Rome tries too hard to be a "friend to the black cause" in sports. "I have black friends and they agree with me that ..... " Uh,huh!!! 7. Charles knows how the conversation would go: Charles tell me why you retired? "Because I was injured and it was time. Next question." Yes but why (as he searches for a good sound bite to use for the promo),why Chuck? " First of all only my friends call me Chuck, and second of all, when was the last time you played hurt? When Evertt kicked your ass so you could get cheap publicity? You pansy!" Cut to a commercial. 8. Charles doesn't need the exposure or the money. 9. Rome does. 10.Charles had a very important thing to do that day and he had to decide to do that or do the Rome interview. Charles had to wash his hair. Mean aren't I? ------------------
I think it was last year when Rome first wanted Barkley to come on the Radio show. CB said now. Then Rome "said" he asked CB to come on the TV show. Barkley "said" no to that. So then for the past year or maybe a little more Rome has bashed Charles. On a side note: Rome come July is going to lose some affiliates b/c his radio show is joining the new FOX Sports Radio Network. Other hosts slated to be apart of this Network are Tony Bruno in the Mornings & Cris Collinsworth in the afternoon soometime. Has Francis been in the Jungle or on the Last Word? R Snyder, Steve was on Rome's show earlier in the season, so Rome is cool with Steve (i.e. he will kiss Steve's butt any time he does an interview) The hell with Rome. He is a punk. I listen because he makes me laugh, or the callers make me laugh. His interviews usually suck and go to the tune of: I'll stroke your ego if you stroke mine. Don't get me wrong, the guys has a lot of good takes, but just as many bad ones. He can say whatever he wants about Charles, but I know of at least 10,000 or so people that were there with me last night to pay tribute to one of the games greatest players. War Jim Everett! Primetime I couldnt have said it any better. Rome is funny but he is a complete dumb ass. If you want to get "racked" on his show all u have to do is say how is "tour stop" was da "bomb-bay" or how "van-smack" is the best blah blah blah. I hope they cancel his stupid ass show. ------------------
yeah i figured charles must have not done his show.. charles is smart i wish rudy and clyde would have not gone on his show and been a little classier and told him no. all he does is make fun of people he interviews if he doesn't like them and everything. i just wish clyde would have known jim would end up making him say something he didn't want to say like the barkley thing. nothing against clyde and rudy just wish they would stay off his show. You'll know soon enough as Charles invades the Earnie J and Kenny S. show on TBS/TNT/Etc for the playoffs and then becomes a regular contributor next season. Just as long as he doesn't do that smaltsy smoochie stuff like on the Nike site.
Guess you guys won't be joining #jimrome on irc anytime soon, huh? I used to listen to Rome religiously, then a week later I had had enough. Some of the callers to the show hang out on #jimrome. They're hilarious, but Jim kinda wore on me. I still say there's no worse sports talk than in the Dallas area on "The Ticket". I'm just sayin'... ------------------ <this space for rent>
