There are a lot of posts and topics around about whether Rudy should stay or go.

If he left (one way or another), who would you want?

Personaly I think Rudy still has a bit in the tank and want to see a healthy season for the Rockets, but...

I wouldn't mind seeing Donnie Nelson coaching. He is a great offensive coach and did a good job while Papa Nellie was out. I actually like him more than his Dad. I think with some experience he is going to be a great coach and has been learning from Dell Harris and Don Nelson.

    Any thoughts?

    Jim Bowlin!

But let's not count out Rudy just yet.

Don Nelson doesn't know what defense is. Why don't we just hire Maryland's coach? We're going to have all his ex players anyways.

I actually like Van Gundy. He said he wanted a rest from basketball and has gotten it. I think he could be a good fit. He does at least have minimal comprehension of A) dealing with strong, young personalities (Spree and Camby) and B) a minimal understanding of defense.

hehehe, I'd be all for it; bring on the Houston Terrapins :)

It'll never happen, and I don't think Gary Williams would be a great NBA coach; he'd have a heart attack from all the sweating and yelling he'd have to do in such a longer season. :)

Van Gundy would be the perfect coach for this team. He would teach them defense and his aquesition would alone make us a playoff team. We should try to see if he'll take an assistant coaching job.

    1. Mike Dunleavy
    2. Donny Nelson ( little whistle)

But lets just keep Rudy for now.

What do you all think of John Thompson? I know he doesnt have any NBA experience but I think he is a great coach and wouldnt fall into the ranks of the Pitinos and the Caliparis. I think he could give our big men a few lessons on being big. I also think he would be able to get the respect and attention from all of the players including the star players. I also believe that he would be able to implement a system and stick with it.

Getting him out of his cush job with TNT/TBS would be hard to do.

    Just my 2 cents.

You know what would help get Houston more attention? Make Charles head coach. Sure we'd suck @$$, but we'd be on Sportscenter every night as Charles comes up with creative ways of getting himself thrown out of games. :D

If Rudy left, I wouldn't want anyone.

    I'd want Rudy back.

    No votes for Hakeem??

    Not one here either!

Charles would be an interesting idea....literally just interesting.

Kenny Smith would be another interesting choice, but I'd like to see him in an assistants role first.

Hell, why don't we just go steal Phil Jackson and Shaq from the Lakers.

Mike Dunleavy would be my first choice, my 2nd is Kenny "the jet" Smith. I think he would be a good coach. This is a team that is centered around a PG, so who better than a former PG to coach? Also, it would be nice to keep it in the family, you know, Rudy on the team as a player before he was our coach.
