A home record this season that rivals that of the Celtics, Lakers, And Magic... But the 9th best road record in the West.

When will something be down about the ridiculous "home court" advantage that these clowns receive every season?!

Yeah but this year it's freakishly noticeable. Just look at how many teams they get on back-to-backs, and their crappy road record. All of us Rockets fans have seen it, but it's about time everyone else did too.

Will Tuesday the Rockets should be ready. The team will not be coming off a b2b and it will be on TNT. I can't wait these next two weeks are key to keeping the 3rd seed or moving up to the 2nd seed.

BYU basketball also has a ridiculously skewed home record.

I gotta think that back-to-back phenomenon is the result of Utah ALWAYS being the last stop on a West Coast road swing. Is it fair? No. Are the refs afraid of Jerry Sloan/those slack-jawed, mouth-breathing Jazz fans? Yes. Will it ever change? Never.

It seems that Energy Solutions Arena is becoming the Lambeau Field of the NBA. Thing is the Packers have respect, the Jazz... Who cares

"The frozen sewer of Energy Solutions Arena" As Chris Berman would say.

If you look at even the worst teams in the league and their home record chances are they're probably hovering around with a .500 record at home. All teams play significantly better at home then on the road.

That said Utah gets away with a lot more at home. The fans bark at refs if the Jazz aren't allowed to foul on every possession, which they do on the road as well.

The difference is the lack of free throws for the road team because the refs swallow their whistles when the Jazz are at home. They're allowed to foul harder than they would on the road and get away with it for the sake of not calling a 3 hour game where they all foul out.

If they don't watch out, they may have to win the 1st 2 games of the playoffs in LA. They have 7 road games left(Suns, Blazers, Nuggets, NO, Mavs, Spurs & Lakers). Their last 10 games are 2 sets of 5 games in 7 days with 6 road games. They have 5 b2b games & they each require travel.

    Couldn't happen to a nicer team!!!! :D

Are you sure that Houston wants a 2 seed? wouldnt this match them up for another first round exit via the jazz? I think it has been well established that Houston doesn't match up well with the jazz.

You don't know where we'll finish and you don't know where Utah will finish. We could be #2 and they could be #7 or we could be #3 and they could be #6 or it could be #4 and #5 like last year. At this point you can't think about trying to position yourself so you don't play the Jazz. It's way to early for that. Right now you just have to try to win every game, get the best seed you can, and hope for the best. If it comes down to the last game or two and you're in position to affect the seeds, then maybe you sit Yao, Shane, and Artest to "rest them for the playoffs." ;)

I'd still take home court vs. the Jazz over playing another team without it.

Nice stats, Rockets are no where near as good as they on the road before.

The Clippers a few years ago, when they knew that they clinched home court in the 1st rd, tanked the last few games in order to face the Nuggets, that definitely worked out well for them.

    We should do the same.

If we have home court locked up like the Clippers did, we should think about tanking if that gives us a better 1st rd matchup.

You could take this back 20 years and the Jazz would remain #1 by a good margin.

Not entirely accurate. They didn't have home court locked up. It was a weird situation because by tanking, the Clippers gained home court advantage. The division winners got the top 3 seeds. Denver, being the worst division winner at 44-38, was the #3 seed. Dallas, at 60-22, was the #4 seed(Spurs won the division). If the Clippers had been the #5 seed, they would have faced a 60 win Mavs team without HCA. But they had a better record than #3 Denver so by dropping to #6, they actually got home court.

I think it was because of this that the NBA altered the rule to say that division winners got a top 4 seed instead of a top 3 seed. If that had been the case in the above situation, Denver would have been the #4 seed and it would have been more beneficial to try for the #5 seed instead of tanking for #6.

Awesome stat durvasa. I knew the HC advantage for Utah was great but seeing that stat really shocked me. I've been to several Jazz games when the Rockets come to town and I can tell you from being there that those fans contribute to at least 10-12 wins a season easy. Watching Utah at home with all of that energy and then watching them play on the road with no energy at all has to lead back to the fans. That's the only explanation I can come up with. It's crazy to think that a fan base can have such a huge impact on how well a team does.
