Looks like Street Fighter is beating the living crap out of all those other games.

Yeah, pretty much. Great sales by SF4, especially for the PS3 version. Had to do a double-take to make sure I was reading the numbers right.

KZ2 sales are somewhat low, although given 2 days of sales and Sony's poor marketing (yet again), might be better to wait until we get sales from March. Seems to be doing well in Europe though.

Not too surprising, but Star Ocean 4 isn't in the top 10 (<136K). Given its performance in Japan (as well as others), I'm guessing we won't be seeing too many more HD JRPG exclusives anymore, outside of maybe the occasional niche PS3 exclusive (where ~100K in the US would be great).

SF IV numbers for PS3 are very impressive considering there was serious stock shortages (pre-orders couldn't be filled), at least here in Canada. Killzone 2 should do well. From what I hear, it was sold out in a lot of places in Canada.

BTW, where's Halo Wars? Just read today it's sold 1 million worldwide.

Halo Wars was released in March, not February (at least, in NA). It may show up next month.

    Ah, that makes sense then.

Time for PS3 price drop, Sony can't keep losing like this or developers will abandon it for the Wii.

Don't think there is really much Sony could do to persuade developers to continue developing for the PS3 instead of the Wii. At this point, they've probably more or less decided what system(s) to support. Fortunately for them, it does seem like some developers prefer to work with the HD consoles no matter what.

Now abandoning the PS3 for the 360...

Don't do it. Reconsider. Read some litera....ture on the subject. ;)

It doesn't look like a PS3 drop will be coming though. Looking at the numbers, it seems the PS2 is taking away from the PS3. Notice no xbox? Not saying thats the deciding factor though I do think it affects it.

Love my PSBeast. Hopefully its sells keep picking up. It is funny that the Wii sells so well. Reminds me of being a kid and wanting a Game Boy, but having to get one of those cheap portables.

Sony needs to get a better marketing team. There are a ton of things that can convince people that the PS3 is the best machine, but most people don't know its capabilites. If they keep putting out the games they are they can be ok, but they need to get the word out. GOWIII will be a huge factor I think. Still can't believe how many folks didn't list the first on their greatest games of all times in that thread. People are strange I guess.

Too many mediocre cookie cutter jrpgs out for Xbox. They need something more innovative. Bad 3d graphics, lotsa lag, bad voice acting, lame story, etc

Street Fighter IV is good but Capcom's DLC is out of control.

Mega Man 9 nickel and dimed you to death for minor addons.

Street Fighter IV has the alternate costumes ON THE GAME DISK but you have to pay $4 per costume pack (not sure how many packs there are...5?).

Resident Evil 5 is adding some multiplayer modes....for a price of course.

I look through the games in the Wii area and there is so much shovelware garbage available, it's ridiculous.

So far this year I think it's actually selling worse than last year.

What was there other than the GBA at the time? I can't remember the alternatives (that were cheaper).

I don't think it's odd at all that God of War isn't on that many lists. There is a lot of history to choose from.

But I agree that GOWIII could give a nice bump to Sony.

The PS2 doesn't subtract from PS3 sales. Those are two different markets. People who buy PS2s for $100 aren't interested in spending $400 for a gaming system. And "better marketing" won't cause an uptick in PS3 sales. The main issue is price. The PS3's price is just too high compared to it's competition and regardless of the features, most people will not pay $150-200 more for it. I'm very willing to buy a PS3 when they drop the drop by another $100-150, but until then, ain't no way.

The delay in dropping the PS3 price has made the chances of me buying a 360 go up to about 30% from close to zero. I can tell you right now that if Sony doesn't drop the price by at least $100 by Christmas this year, there is a 95% chance I get a 360 instead.

Despite publishers, analysts and consumers calling repeatedly for a price cut on the machine, SCE America's senior vice president of marketing Peter Dille sounds positively fed up with other people telling him how to do his job. "Everybody in the development community would love for the PS3 to be free", Dille told Bloomberg, "so they could just sell razor blades".

They were offering 200$ off a Ps3 when you signup for a sony credit card not too long ago.

There's really no games that are worth it atm for me to spend that much money on a next gen console so I'll wait till there's a good deal as well.

The PS3 is great for playing BluRay rips when used with TVersity for streaming from a PC.

True. The quality of JRPGs certainly hasn't helped when it comes to sales. Japanese RPG developers certainly have a lot of problems to work through right now, especially if they want sales to improve in the US.

More or less agree. I think there might be some overlap (SCEI games on both), but not much. And most of that probably occurred early on.

I do agree that price is the main issue, but Sony's marketing has been horrible. It might be more of a software issue though. Better marketing may only marginally increase hardware sales, but software sales could go way up (and possibly indirectly improve hardware sales).

Price and marketing probably are the two biggest problems for the PS3. Sony hasn't been able to quickly reduce the price, and they haven't figured out how to market the system or its games.

I'm referring to those little portables with like one game on it and three or four moves. They went for about $20.

A lot of good games mentioned. I enjoyed a good amount of them. I just put GOW right up there at the top. When I played that one, I couldn't put it down. The story was so interesting. The controls were some of the most fluid I ever played. The graphics were top notch and are still nice. Bonus points for Greek mythology. And........Kratos is a beast!

If I have to explain it, maybe you didn't check it out. Just saying. ;)

I can agree that the PS2 probably isn't a huge factor in the slow sales of the PSBeast, but I also think that some people are content with their PS2's with new games being available for it. Once that well dries up, those folks may look at getting a newer system. It would likely be a Wii, but I'm just curious if there is any impact due to that.

As for going with a 360. Thats understandable. Its a decent system, but honestly once you start getting it beefed up the price is pretty close to PS3. Smoke and mirrors. If you wanted a decent car would you go out and buy a good one with everything you want or get cheaper one and over time put work in to get it how you want it?

Personally, the only 2 good next gen jrpgs that are out there is Tales of Vesperia and Valkyrie Chronicles. I need to try out Lost Odyssey sometime, but I won't hold my breath. I was, in fact, hoping Star Ocean 4 would be awesome, but 2 and 3 were crap, so I'm not surprised that 4 seems to be more of the same.

That's exactly what I did. I waited til there was the xbox arcade for $150. I figured it wasn't going to get much lower than that so I jumped on it along with a few older next gen games that I had my eye on. I'd say I've definitely gotten my money's worth so far.
