It seems like the Rockets are working out the entire Maryland team: Mouton, Baxter, Dixon... plus Francis is going to the lottery... Has Stevie been named the new GM while I was asleep? Last year we lost a pick in order to draft T.Morris. How many Terrapins are we going to draft this year?

Did you hear that we are hiring the San Jacinto State coach as an assistant coach? And we are bringing in the Allegany Community College's moscot "Troy the Horse" to be Clutch The Bear's backup.

Dixon is a B-ball pimp. Pray the Rockets land him.

Word.

I personally have no problem with being the Houston Terrapins. Hell, the ones in the drafts are all proven winners, and I have a feeling Terrance Morris is a very good addition to this team. I'm not high at all on Baxter, but if we pick up Dixon with our first second-round pick I'd be happy as hell. And of course, if (when) Mouton goes undrafted, we could always take a look at him as an undrafted free agent.

And btw - I think it's awesome Steve is repping his team. In fact, I hope no other NBA players are doing the same thing. I think this is showing Steve is really a leader, and, judging by what he has sacrificed to be migrane-free, I feel he will really step up to another level and start taking his "Stevie Franchise" nick to heart.

And yes, that is a sacrifice. Hell, I couldn't do it.

You could if you had debilitaing migraines. It's called negative reinforcement. btw: you can't give up salt, just a diet too high in salt for him. You aren't really saying he's a warrior that will do anything for the team, because he listened to his doctors??

I can see where Kayman is coming from.

We need a team that has ballplayers and not buddies.

Francis can go fishing with those guys....and play ball with guys like Butler, Woods, Stoudemire, etc.

Well you make some valid points, heypartner. I still couldn't imagine having to give up fast food, popcorn, steak, that kind of thing.

If we got Wilcox, Dixon, and somebody worthwhile at #15, then sure it's Terrapin Central but I'd consider that a successful draft. That they happen to be from Maryland is not unexpected, given that they just won the championship...

And T-Mo may still be a good role player for us.

BTW, putting aside the merits of the strategy of giving reins of the future of the team entirely to Francis, IMO having Francis at the Lottery is an awesome, potentially trendsetting move, I applaud it.

How about Butler with de 5th pick & Wilcox with de 15th pick and Dixon with a 2nd rounder. That would be my draft day dream.    :D :D :) ;)

Steve can do whatever he wants positively with the team as long as he signs with the Rockets.

If I we the GM I would do the same.

Plus Maryland is the best in the country right now, it is not like if it were a 15 th ranked team, that Francis he was from and was trying to get all those players here. We got to take advantage of it while we can.

ok, going with the flow here, being just as insane in my ramblings...

if we traded down with LAC, and got Wilcox, Tskitishvili/Nachbar, Hilario/Stoudamire and Dixon ... whew... then traded one or two of those guys with KT, Mobes, Norris, Collier, (maybe Rice), etc. to get one each of Odom/Lewis/Scherbiak/Nailon and Diop/LaFrentz/Clark/Curry/Olowakandi. Great offseason.

Lets say we lucked out and got Wilcox/Tskitishvili/Hilario/Dixon, then traded Tskitishvili/KT/Mobes/Norris/Collier and got Odom and Diop... resigned Williams cheap, put him at the 2, we'd have:

Cato/Diop/Hilario
Griffin/Taylor/Wilcox
Odom/Morris/Rice
Williams/Torres/Dixon
Francis/Brown

of course, then we'd probably do something stupid like trade Wilcox for Kwame Brown...

Seems like the central question of this year's draft: Will Steve's posse continue to grow? Isn't it already the biggest in the league? Will Griffin join this year so Steve and Cat will pass to him?

Are you talking about Walt?? And then having him start at the 2 spot?? Ouch. (sorry dbc)

If you are, re-signing him may be dumber than trading Wilcox for Kwame Brown (although that is incredibly stupid, too).

Three power forwards? Griffin and Maurice Taylor are enough. Start Griffin, bench Maurice Taylor. Desagana Diop is also a big risk. He's looking injury prone already, and we do not need injuries next year.

haha, just going with the Terrapin Central thing. Manny, Walt is WAY WAY too slow... totally agree. I hated watching him out there this year when Steve and Cuttino were on the floor with him ... was it just me, or was it like he was in slow motion on TV! Sorry, got a little tongue in cheek on some of that. I hope we don't resign Walt. That would just be to appease the Maryland connection thing, I'd think.

(still in rambling mode, here...)

Start Torres, TMo, Dixon or move Francis over to the 2 ... boy, none of these solutions sound good. I will hate losing Mobely ... but you have to give up talent to get talent... I guess. Crap, is there any way to get Odom or Lewis without losing Mobely? They aren't going to want KT, although we'd probably have to throw in one of the draft picks and a role player, such as Collier. Someone show me a way to keep Cuttino...

But Rocketblast, I DO like Diop! His feet will get better, and because of that, now's the best time to get him... I think he'll turn out better than Curry, Chandler, Brown and the other 2001 drafted high schoolers in a few years. He's a project ... but ultimately worth the risk, in my opinion. And maybe Cleveland would take KT for him.

As far as having 3 forwards are concerned, we need the depth, and we might just showcase Taylor next year to show his injury is over, then trade him for future draft picks/expiring contract somehow. Besides, Wilcox will take a few years to develop, as would Diop and Dixon.

If we had Diop/Hilario/Griffin/Wilcox at the 4/5 spot, any of them could develop for either spot. We'd just have to see who grows and muscles up. But I'd like our chances of getting a good center and good PF out of that bunch.

But this discussion was just going with the Terrapin Central thing. I'd rather not get Wilcox, actually, although I wouldn't be terribly dissappointed. I'd rather take Butler, Tskitishvili, Stoudamire or Hilario with that pick, or get 3 of them, if we traded down w/LAC.
