I think it's safe to say that we will face one of these four teams in the 1st round this year. I'd rather play Denver, we usually play well against them. Utah - Revenge Factor Portland - Roy would light us up, not good New Orleans - Shut them down without Yao, with him shouldn't be a problem Damn it... This was supposed to be a poll. Ugh.
Here are the rankings from who I want to play the most to who I want to play the least 1. Nuggets 2. Hornets 3. Blazers 4. Jazz I feel most comfortable against the Nuggets. They don't have enough depth to take us in 7 games. They still rely too much offensively than they do on defense. They do have enough big men to contain Yao, from Nene to Birdman to K-Mart to Petro. However, their wings are terrible defensively. Our role players would just need to step up Hornets would be a matchup in our favor as well. That team needs Chris Paul put up 20/10's in order for their team to win. Chris Paul is asked to do way too much, I believe with Lowry and Brooks we have enough speed and strength to defend Cp3, not to mention we have Yao in the middle altering and blocking the shots. Rockets would have no problem taking those guy sout Blazers, I am iffy about. They are a solid young team with a superstar in the making of Brandon Roy. They probably have one of the best post defenders in the league with Joel Pryzbilla. He has not only shut down Yao, but he has shut down Howard, Jefferson and Duncan. It also seems like they have no weaknesses in any of their positions either. If they do have any it's probably the PG spot, which is probably our weakness too. They matchup well against us. It's hard to say who has the favor. Jazz, we do not have a good chance again. Yao struggles against Mehmet Okur who is an underrated post defender in the league. Yao cannot defend any of the Jazz's starting lineup. Whether It's Boozer or Okur. We also don't have T-Mac who is pretty much our only player that lights up the Jazz. Deron Williams also plays like the best PG in the league when he's up against us. This is the only matchup I do not want to see because we do not have a good chance taking out the Jazz without Tracy McGrady.
anyone except jazz really (lakers and spurs too but thats unlikely). we dont match up well against them, and theyre hard to beat in utah. we wont get revenge, instead itll be 3 in a row playoff series losses to them. no thanks
I've considered starting this poll, therefore I am a bit bummed that yours didn't work... But... I'd like to face: 1. Utah 2. Dallas 3. Denver 4. New Orleans 5. Portland 6. San Antonio 7. Los Angeles
Probably Denver or New Orleans. We always seem to play well against them, and have only lost to them once. Nuggets have big men that can guard Yao, but they seem to lack everything else. We'd need Artest and the rest of the starters to step up, and have our bench on fire during the 7 game series. New Orleans simply cannot stop Yao. He'll be proving his all-star status in a series against them. Again, I'm confident Brooks and especially Lowry can stop Paul, so we really don't have anything to worry about. Portland? Eh. Roy would probably go crazy on us. Definitely not Utah. Not unless we have a fully healthy roster, with everyone gellin'.
Nice post, similar to mine Another reason why I don't want to face the Jazz is because of how physical they are. They are one of the most physical teams in the league and we are not like that. Deron Williams would torch our PGs especially is Brooks is starting in the playoffs. Hornets and Nuggets are my take. I hope the Nuggets. Melo vs Yao, who gets out of the 1st round first.
I agree with you. Denver would be the best option, I think. Artest and Battier could take on 'Melo, and most likely efficiently guard him. Billups might be a bit hard to stop, I dunno'. Yao should have a field day against Nene and the other big guys. The Houston Rockets defeat the Denver Nuggets in a six game playoff series to advance to the Western Semifinals! How sweet it will be...
Yep, Billups is going to post up on Brooks all day though. However, Billups has really slow footspeed so Brooks would have the advantage on offense too. Yao needs to rebound against the Nuggets though, I know he's going to score on the Nuggets with ease. Melo is one of the worst defenders at his position, Artest will have a field night because Jones is not good enough to defend. J.R Smith is just as bad as Melo on defense. They have very bad man to man defenders, They are just very lucky Billups plays for them.
My wife thinks I am crazy because I was laughing so much at this comment. I would not be surprised if a lot of teams want to draw the Rockets. But I think the Rockets will beat anyone (that is Denver, Dallas, Portland, NO) except Utah. Maybe, maybe Utah with home court. I think I would even prefer any of the other 4 on the road than Utah with home court. If I had to pick an order: Portland, Denver, NO, Dallas, Utah
Best west seeding Lakers Spurs Rockets Blazers/Jazz Jazz/Blazers Nuggets Hornets Mavs Lakers - Mavs -> Lakers Spurs - Hornets -> Spurs/Hornets Rockets - Nuggets -> Rockets Blazers - Jazz -> Porland Lakers - Blazer -> Blazers Spurs/Hornets - Rockets -> Rockets Rockets - Blazers -> Rockets
We got Shane and Ron Ron for mr. Roy...lol @ yall being scared of Portland. anyway...who cares...you play who's in front of you.
You want to build confidence by playing the suckiest team first. Not get knocked out by the best. 1)Nugs 2)Hornets 3)Blazers 4)Mavs 5)Jazz 6)Spurs 7)Lakers
I wouldn't mind playing Portland if Oden starts for them. Oden is probably slower than Yao. Pryzbilla is the dude I fear since he flops all the time.
