Apparently we all have them but how many of you are able to use your own? I noticed that I never have to use my alarm clock. Sure I set it for 6:00 AM and turn it on every night but I always end up waking up about 10 minutes before the alarm ever goes off, sometimes sooner. I cannot remember the last time I actually had to set an alarm via clock, cell phone, or wake-up call and actually needed it to wake up.

I did some reading on the Internet and it appears we all have this, according to the article located here. There are even articles that teach you methods to set your own internal alarm clock like this one. There are tons of other articles about this on the Internet as well. Pretty cool stuff if you ask me.

So, are any of you able to use this biological feature as well?

when I was in 8th grade we had a guest speaker come talk to us about this (Think she was some sort of psychologist). She told us that if you look at a clock before you go to bed and just repeat 3-4 times to yourself the current time and say I want to get up at a certain time that you will wake up within 10 minutes of that time. I don't do it too much anymore but I used to do it all the time. it worked perfectly, and I usually would wake up within 3 minutes of when I wanted to. As wierd as it sounds it did actually work just like she told us.

I've never been able to use an alarm clock because I always wake up before it goes off. What makes it even crazier is that I'm normally in a different time zone every couple of weeks.

I use my "internal alarm clock" and therefore have no need for an "actual" alarm clock. Mine also works in whatever time zone I'm sleeping in at the time.

Nothing is worse than waking up 15 minutes before your alarm is supposed to go off. GOD, I hate that. But I seem to do it every morning. Weird.

On the other hand, nothing is better than waking up and thinking it's 5am, only to look at the clock to see that it's only 1:30. SWEET, I still have 4 more hours. What a great feeling that is.

Only good think about waking up before your alarm is that you can get a little quickie before you get up. Great way to start the day!

I wake up naturally at 6 during the week. I don't set my alarm except for getting up at 5 or earlier for runs or cycling rides.

Sometimes, I have it. i will wake up without an alarm if I'm not too tired. Most of times, I just snooze and try to get more sleep!

Nope, I have an alarm that is attached to a lamp so the lamp starts blinking whenever the alarm goes off. I'm a light sleeper so it will wake me up. There is a bed vibrator for heavy sleepers. I tried to use it once but I hated it...scared the ***** out of me.

I also wake up just before my alarm sounds off, often 1-2 minutes ahead.

when i have a really important event the next day (a mid-term, a flight, a performance), i will wake up right on time without an alarm clock, regardless of how little i've slept. sadly i don't have important events every day.

same here, I usually wake up about 10 minutes before the alarm I set for myself. Also, when I leave my phone alarm on vibrate or something, and I know I have to get up early to review for an exam, I always wake up in time.

I set my internal alarm clock to get me up a good half-hour after my actual alarm clock. I then ignore my actual alarm clock.
