    Shaq, early in his career, officiated the exact OPPOSITE way, however, because he could bowl through the lane like bowling pins and draw defensive fouls. Yao has guys scratching, clawing, and elbowing him in the paint that don't get called constantly. Likewise, the flopping is reaching an unreal point against certain teams (Jazz, Cavs).

    I dont understand how he is officiated in our favor.

    In the wrestling for position that goes on frequently in the post, both players are often committing illegal contact. On the defensive side, the refs will let Yao get away with a lot of contact at times. They've become more lenient with him on that end than they used to be.

    Who here doesn't like watching games where the opponents announcers always whine about this should of been a foul or that should of been a foul all game long?

    No one else likes the Rockets announcers for that very reason. I myself find all the constant whining from Worrell and Bullard difficult to stand. The one area in which Drexler is more tolerable than Bullard is he doesn't make nearly as big a deal about the officiating.

    Every team gets tons of bad calls. The refs are terrible.

    The more I watch games the more I realize.... NBA HAS r****dED REFS. The refs are either blind or paid off. NBA needs to spend some money & time training refs because they don't call any game even remotely close to correct.

    we do get bad calls more often than other teams maybe the clippers get worse calls than us, but overall we get screwed.

    about everytime we are playing, the opponent gets the better calls. even bill worrell is able to call out when the other team gets screwed out of a call and we actually get away with one.

    To be honest I usually look at the line of each game and who's giving away a certain amount of points to the other team though I do not bet myself and some calls especially towards the end can seem suspicious, purposeful bad calls to keep the game close. Like that Rockets/Lakers game in Houston (not the last one, the one before that) Or is just me...

    I was thinking Jar Jar Binks...

    But that's unnecessary.

    I'll give you that. The illegal contact on both sides evens out. However, as far as contact during pass receptions, shots, and flops, there is a glaring problem.. IMO Yao is so big and strong that the refs officiate him like a menace, and whistle too much on prevention, rather than reaction. *shrug*

    Except for Yao I don't think we are any worse than anyone else... in fact against some of the bottom team I think we have got the better end in a few games. However as pointed out here in general NBA refs are poor... yes there will be mistakes but these guys make a lot considering there is 3 of them, you should have a view of most things. Some of this like looking after the superstars is probably something that comes from Stern but overall they miss a lot of travels, constantly fall for flops(i know its hard sometimes on these but if you arn't 100% sure don't call it) and I notice a lot of bad calls on rebounding box outs.

    yao is still being poorly and unfairly officiated;

    the jazz is still getting away with a lot dirty stuff;

    the lakers are still stern's puppy;

    floppers are rewarded often - rather than punished;

    certain players, mainly the mvp candidates are getting some calls they shouldn't have;

    perimeter players are still getting favorable treatment for stupid reasons;

    fans still wonder if some nights the refs are paid off.

    other than that, the nba officiating are just fine.
